Hey Everyone,

I'm still figuring out this forum, and didn't know quite how it works with the welcome thread. I'm assuming this is for posting a little bit about yourself, and maybe what you want to get out of this forum, so here it goes (I'll try to keep the "about me" section short):

Essentially, I've had bad anxiety the past year due to some major life changes. While it hasn't stopped me from functioning in my job and in grad school, it definitely does interfere with my life. Specifically, it has made me a lot more tired than I ever used to be. I also have anxiety or "mini" panic attacks at least once a day, if not more. It's super frustrating, but I feel like I've maybe made some headway in getting better lately.

So, what I'm here for is to not only understand that maybe I'm not alone, but also to find out what people have done to get fully better, or at least significantly better! I feel like I've picked up some good thinking patterns and techniques,n which have definitely helped me! However, I've noticed that once I start to feel like my "old" self again, I either forget or don't want to think about my anxiety, and try to immediately forget or not practice anything related to anxiety. As you can guess, this inevitably leads me to "relapsing" a bit.

So hopefully this forum will not only keep me focused in my goal of beating anxiety, but will also speed up the process along the way!

Anyway, looking forward to talking with you all. Thanks!!!

Hi buddy - yeah it seems like we all take two steps forward and one step back. At least that's the case with me. Just when I start feeling a little better BOOM back to the old thinking. What causes your mini attacks? Are you able to avoid those situations?

The cause of my mini attacks (which last longer than full blown attacks) tend to be being put in new situations where I'm expected to perform, or fear of being called on in class, or failing a test. I mostly get panic at school, though it does happen occasionally at other times, but not as often.

I obviously can't avoid those situations unless I drop out of school. I'd rather power through it, because I know it will pay off and eventually I'll be able to be confident in what I'm doing, and I won't have to worry about passing tests or failing out of school!

What about you? What causes your mini attacks?

And I agree, I do take two steps forwards, then one (sometimes more) steps back. But as long as I'm working on my mistakes, I'll eventually get better,

Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you here. You clearly recognise some of your own pitfalls which is great. Quite a few people stay on the forum as their own anxiety has been overcome and help others. This in turns helps those people by helping others. When you've got a good handle on things then maybe that is a way of avoiding your pitfall as it remains relevant and keeps you on that good path. Equally though the skills you have enable you to walk through the forum free of your anxiety too. Nice to meet you!

Thanks! You too!
