Trazodone for Sleep

I was recently rx'ed Trazodone for sleep because Ambien isn't really working for me anymore. My pdoc told me to take it with Ambien, but my plan is to wean off the Ambien and just take the Trazodone. I went down to about 8 mg from the normal 10 that I take last night and took that with 25 mg of Trazodone. I slept for 7 hours straight which is A LOT for me. Tonight I am going to try just 5 mg of Ambien and 25 of Tdone to hopefully wean off the Ambien. Wondering if I can just stop it cold turkey and replace with the Traz? Anyone have any experience with Tdone? Like it, don't like it?

bummer- what did you experience on it? i couldn't believe i slept so long. i am hoping that it just isn't the combo of the two and that the t done will work alone. Really wanting to get off the Ambien.

Just kept waking up really drowsy all night.

yeah the only thing is that i have felt super zombie-fied and out of it this morning but hopefully that will go away with use. sounds like that's a side effect of nearly all the TCA and other AD's used for sleep. It isn't as bad as Seroquel was, so that's good.

Hello A-cat :) I had trazadone the past 3 months when the sertraline blessed me with a fun dose of insomnia. I tried zopiclone before it. I gotta tell you neither touched me at night to help my sleep but yes in the morning it took me 3 hours to switch on my brain for doing the day. That could have been the lack of sleep which is most likely or perhaps I won't know. I dropped it as I have with all of the meds :( It's given for this purpose though and 2people is not exactly a good sample of everyone that takes it. :( maybe the good news will come flooding in soon! :)

So remeron ended up working for 13. Did anything end up working for your sleep? Ambien works okay for me but will only keep me asleep for about 4 hours and I have to take another piece. Pdoc thinks the combo will be better but honestly I'd rather just use the traz If it works bc ambien makes me have memory loss.

Slept 8 hours straight last night- this is unreal. The only thing is the super strange and bizarre dreams. Even weirder than on Ambien alone. I tried to cut to just 5 mg of ambien last night but was still awake after an hour so I took another 5 mg. I hate Ambien, I wish i could just cut it out all together!

so did I , and I was on 100 mg , it worked but I was waking up countless times at night and it felt like I can not breathe... It works well on most people
