I know there are some threads about Remeron right now but I hate thread jacking someone elses thread. lol Some of this I copied from my post in another thread.

I was put on Wellbutrin XL about a month ago now. I was on it before years ago with decent results and wanted to try it again after a not so good time on Prozac. After a couple of weeks it was clear Wellbutrin was making my anxiety sky rocket, mood swings, and irritability. So I thought it was time to go see a psychiatrist to really figure some things out as life was becoming a huge pain.

After about an hour of talking she put me on Remeron (15mg) to try and help the anxiety aspect. Wellbutrin seems to help my depression but my anxiety seriously needs work.

So 15mg of Remeron at night, 300mg of Wellbutrin XL in the mornings.

The first night on Remeron was pretty wild. She warned me it would knock me out, I had trouble sleeping anyway so wasn't worried, boy did it KNOCK. ME. OUT. I woke up the next day feeling like I had been put to sleep for surgery, very groggy, not really with it. Luckily I didn't have anything I had to do. Second day, same thing. Day three a little better not as tired but having a hard time remembering little things like the previous day's lunch or something. I also noticed an increase in the way I feel if I am startled. It's a weird sensation and hard to explain, but for example I was in traffic and a car honked at someone, my head went into a wild daze for a second and it felt like a huge rush but just for a second. I have felt similar before but in intense situations that would naturally call for that type of feeling. Even when my phone rings if I am focused on something else I get this huge reflex in my head, I don't actually jump as it's in my head, but it's similar to an unexpected rush is the best I can describe it as. I also started getting dizzy quite a bit and I feel like I am more irritable. Anxiety is less but I don't think the medicine is to thank.

Day four groggy still, almost like I have weights attached to me. I keep forcing myself to go outside and move around but find myself mad at small things and just overly "blah." I also noticed an increase in appetite which is bad as I have been losing weight on purpose and gaining some back will just piss me off.

Day five was yesterday and boy what an improvement. I woke up pretty awake, my appetite was back down to "normal" and my anxiety was drastically decreased. I had more energy and zero irritability. Day six, today, same thing, loads of energy, just feeling good. The dizziness has pretty much gone away too.

All that awesome came with a concern though....

Towards late afternoon I started feeling like my chest was sore, like a cramp I sometimes get when I run in the cold. Now lately I HAVE had a head cold, pretty stuffed up, I thought it may be that, possibly something else cold related. I don't have much of a cough but just a dry cough. Then I noticed it almost feels like heart palpitations. I've had those in the past especially in very stressful days, but it's not exactly the same feeling. I noticed if I am lying down, it seems to be ok, standing and walking it's not noticeable, like I said I am really stuffed up anyway so it's hard to tell since I can't breathe right anyway, but it's most noticeable when I get up after sitting or laying down. I looked and it could be a severe side effect, it has me worried, mainly because well of course I don't want to actually have some type of heart issue but also I am sort of liking this medicine and would like to stay on it and see how it plays out. Has anyone felt this with Remeron?

It seems to be not as bad later today as it was, I went for a few walks and it has not gotten worst or anything. It almost feels like a little squeeze and heart flutter or increased heart rate. My resting BPM is what it has been before. I guess I have no option but to visit my PCP if it doesn't stop ASAP. I was just curious if anyone else has had this or not.

...but hey, another reason Remeron may be helping is I'm not in the ER thinking I am having a heart attack yet! hahaha

There's no reason Remeron could cause these cold like symptoms are there? Sinus pressure, runny nose, dry cough, can't get it to go away.

I really don't think so, simp. All I've heard is hunger and daytime tiredness.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm going to give the chest thing another day and if it's not gone by tomorrow afternoon I'll call the doctor and see what's up.
