I gave prozac (fluoextine) 6 weeks and the anxiety was not getting any better. I have been housebound for over 1 year. I am in a state of constant panic/fear 24/7..My doc had me stop prozac on tuesday and wants me to start liquid celexa today..I take them in liquid form because I am so sensitive to meds, so I take very low doses..I am a wreak about starting the celexa..Any input would be really appreciated. thanks, debbie

Hi Debbie, I'm sorry you are having such a tough time of it!
Consider this....if you don't try the Celexa it definitely won't help you, if you do try it might. Do you have much to lose if you try it? Wouldn't it be nice to get some relief? Just a thought. Meds changes are scary for all of us! I understand!
Hang in there and let us know how you are doing!
Cheers!

One of the easier meds to take, that I've tried.
It's the most popular anti-D in the UK for this very reason :) Good luck.

Thank you so much for the encouragement..I can't believe how afraid of meds I am...I only starting at .5ml which is probobly like 1mg. I took a ativan this morning and I will take the Celexa in a bit..Again, thanks so much..I feel like such a child when it comes to this stuff...

You are very welcome! That is what we are here for. And not a child, a cautious, responsible adult!

Yeah don't sweat it :) your body is as it is for now. You're smart as you're working with that. For quite some time I couldn't even take simple vitamins without ill effects.
Even being med sensitive myself, starting on a low amount of Celexa was very tolerable, compared to when I tried the same with Prozac. Hopefully it will be the same for you too.

Thank you so much...I feel like I gave the prozac a good try, 6 weeks..Well I took my .5ml a few hours ago and I am doing ok..I did take .5 of ativan this morning. My doc wants me to take the ativan for awhile to calm things down..But so far,so good..I really appreciate the support. You mentioned have problems with taking vitamins and supplements, I am the same way...
When I started the prozac I had fear not only from the meds, but fear of 'what if this doesn't work'..I am in such a bad place and want to getter better so badly..I want this to help so badly..I don't have attacks, I am like this 24/7..I wake up feeling bad and it only gets worse from there. If I go outside, eveything seems odd, the ground seems uneven, etc...I know I need to desensitize myself, but it is so hard...thanks for listening...

I have taken Celexa off and on since 2001. It has always done good for me :)

Thank you...I hope doing such a low dose it will still be effective...I did lexapro many years ago and gained a bunch of weight..Did you find this to happen with Celexa also??

I had the same fear with meds, vitamins, make up, nuts, seafood & even walking down the chemical aisle at the supermarket!!! I all of a sudden was afraid of everything... But lovely lady told me "THOUGHTS ARE JUST THOUGHTS, THEY ARE NOT FACTS" and every time I was afraid of something new I literally repeated that over and over and over.... It worked for me :)
