I've struggled with anxiety for about 5 years now, but it's gotten pretty bad this year. I've developed panic disorder, agoraphobia, monophobia, depression and health anxiety. I've tried meds, but the side effects are terrible so I never stay on them long enough. I do take klonopin which helps a little. I think the worst problem I have is the monophoboa. I have severe panic attacks when I'm left alone. This isn't normal and it's effecting my relationships. I'm scared and I just want my life back. I dropped out of grad school, quit my job and I don't go out anymore. Everyday I wake up and wonder what misery I'm going to deal with today. I don't know what to do anymore, I feel so alone. I wonder if this is ever going to get better. It's like no one knows how to treat this, ugh. I just need someone to talk to who understands this.

Welcome Darkcloud.
That's a lot to deal with for sure.
You are taking a medicine that should take some of the sting out of things. How about therapy etc. are you doing any CBT to tackle these difficulties?
Frankie :)
Yes, I see a therapist, but I'm not sure it's helping. I just don't know many people going through this and my family doesn't understand.

It's going to take more than Klonopin to get you out of this rut, as much as I hate to type this...Just being honest. You NEED an SSRI, SNRI,..AP...something to help you.

I've tried celexa, Zoloft, Paxil, lexapro. I hate antidepressants. I wouldn't be depressed if I didn't have panic disorder. I really feel like the meds can help take the edge off, but they're a band aide. I need to figure out a way I can truly trust myself again, so I can be alone again. If I could take one med the rest of my life that I knew would work, I'd take it trust me. I'm trying to take baby steps to get better, but it's so hard.
Thank you for your honesty.

Dark cloud, you have the right idea, baby steps is the way to go.....BUT......the antidepressants are useful and probably necessary for you.
You are in a chicken or the egg situation right now with your panic attacks.
Go back to your doctor and get him to help you find the right one. As E-man said maybe an SNRI, you can find the right one it just takes longer with some people.
Also, therapy and CBT are useful to help you take the baby steps.
Hang in there!
Cheers

Yes, and one of these may be your ticket out of there too like Remeron which is an (NAssA) or Wellbutrin which I believe is an (SSNRI)...
At least see if the Doc will try one of those two...the Remeron being my first choice for your issues friend....
Hope that helps!

Thank you. I know some people swear by antidepressants, but they make me feel weird. I'm going to see a new psychiatrist Monday. Hopefully he helps me.

Yes remeron is also an antidepressant. Wellbutrin is an NDRI.
