I've read tons of stories that Xanax numbed their agoraphobia.. I'm hoping it'll work for me.. Don't like the sound of a benzo but I figured if I'm doing the meds & therapy, I might have some success.

My pdoc refuses it to me. He actually referred to it as a cheating success! There are two pdocs in my clinic so I hope to see the other one this week. I just got Xanax to calm my withdrawals from my SSRI which are over the top right now. My GP gave me those Xanax so I'm not counting on my pdoc giving them anytime soon. If I'm honest I would take anything that calms me down enough to go out and deal with the world right now. Long term or otherwise. I'm pretty desperate though at this point. Over half my life has been lost so right in this moment I believe who gives a .....? Whatever gets me "feeling" able and fully functional!

I am so with you!!! If xanax can let me live a normal life, I want it! No one understands how we feel.. So drs not wanting to prescribe xanax is crappy!!

I did hear however on this forum that Xanax has a shorter half life and therefore other benzos could be slightly better if you don't need to take so much in dose or as often? If you're going down the benzo route it may be worthwhile reading up on this topic so you've got the best information to work with your doctor? I am not very up to speed with the whole story there but many here are very well informed on this matter.

good luck Brooklynn I will be hoping to read how you got on if you feel up to it. Also, are you in the US or elsewhere ? It seems to make a huge difference as to what meds are prescribed.

Cool. Ireland and the UK typically resist benzo prescriptions. Virtually everyone that take them on the forum are in the US. No problem being prescribed there.

We are a pretty fu*ked up group but we need the benzos so we can tolerate the jackasses running the country. LOL
