I have the worst anxiety/panic disorder. Have been housebound for 1 1/2 years. Started taking very low dose of liquid prozac (very med sensititive) 5 weeks ago and my anxiety has not improved at all, in fact somewhat worse..I would think I should see some improvement..Now when I take a ativan that doesn't even help..Thinking of switching to a low dose of lexapro..Any input would be so appreciated. I am in a really bad place..thank you..debbie

Hey deb. Really sucks being med sensitive. I guess I could say I was the same. I'm a little better now, but there was a point I couldn't even handle a simple vitamin C pill.
What dose of Prozac are you upto now? :)

Hi..I am up to 5mg..My doc says that is enough for a lot of people..I read a article awhile back showing the trials they did using 5mg vs 20mg of prozac..There was only a 8% difference in improvement with the 20mg, proving that most people would have done fine with the 5mg..Maybe I need to go down to 3mg, maybe that would help..I feel like I am losing my mind.I have suffered from anxiety/panic for many, many years, but was always a functioning person, went to work, went out, etc.etc..Sometimes it was a battle, but I made it thru..I went on lexapro about 5 years ago and it did take the edge off..I gained a bunch of weight on it and thought I was doing well enough to get by with natural remedies. I lost my 11 year old son about 20 years ago and that alone is a daily battle..I just lost my mom and 1 1/2 ago and that is when it all changed..I cannot even leave my house..What sucks it that even when I am home I feel horrible, but trying to go out increases it 10 fold..I feel like the prozac has made me a bit more anxious , plus bad headaches, dizzy, etc..I didn't exprect to be cured right away but at least see some improvement..I am soooo dizzy right now trying to type this..I am going to speak to my doc about many trying the lexapro again..I just hate to have to start all over..I just want some relief..Thank you for listening..

I'm really sorry to hear those things wet plant :( I'm very sorry for your losses.
Sometimes the Prozac can make you a little buzzed. Same thing happened to me, I had to switch in the end. It can be quite activating.
You say it's been 5 weeks. 5 weeks is a kind of a long time. I'd wanna be feeling a little bit of relief by then, or at least feel like something is happening, ya know? I came off Prozac at the 6 week mark. Could tell it wasn't for me by then. I don't know if you've had a similar thought? Sounds like perhaps you have.
I wouldn't blame you if you gave it another week or two, then talked to your doctor about changes. At least to take a tiny bit of the edge off, that would be something, at least.
Stay strong * Big hug!*

I totally understand, wetplant. I did pretty well on Lexapro too, but I was on it for 3 years and I still had bad panic, anxiety, so my pdoc wanted to switch me to Luvox. I've been on it about 5 weeks as well and honestly don't feel all that much better. I just got my dosage increased so my doc says I still need to give it time, but I'm like you, I want to feel better but I don't want to start all over again. I am tempted to just go back to Lexapro too.

I was on Luvox for a couple months but never could get rid of the nausea. Sorry to just jump in here. I'm new.

Thanks for all the replies..Went to the doc again today..Stopping Prozac, and she is putting me on liquid celexa., using liquid again so I can take low dose..She feels the prozac was too stimulating, the celexa is more calming. Of course I am a nervous wreak about starting it. I went off prozac yesterday and she said to start celexa on Sunday. Anyone try Celexa..Thanks..
