So my story.. I just recently turned 21 & I've had anxiety/panic attacks for about two years now.. When it first started, I really only got attacks at work so I went on disability for a few months.. After being off work, the attacks went away but the a anxious feeling has always been there so I've just dealt with it.. All of a sudden I was taking a trip with my boyfriend out of town & as soon as we got there, I panicked because we were an hour away from home so we immediately turned around. On the way home, my car broke down so I was STUCK out there for about an hour. Horrible. Anyways.. Since that day, my anxiety has been bad. I can't be away from a hospital. I worry constantly when I leave the house.. Today is day 9 on prozac & I don't think I feel better yet. I'm scared I'm gonna feel like this forever :( I've thought about taking Xanax but I wanna give my Prozac a little more time to kick in.. Anyone take Prozac? Please save the bad experiences.. I don't need to worry anymore right now lol thank..

Hey Brooke Lynnnn

Like the New York borough.

Welcome!

Scared you're gonna feel like that forever? It's part of the anxiety friend. Yep, just another symptom. Not some sensible part of your mind talking to you at all, just the anxious part yet again. :)

Prozac is a helpful med. one of the longest to work though, so you're still really early in. I remember it taking about 3 weeks before I even felt the slightest of change. 8 weeks before it got grooving. Wasn't for me in the end, but I still did feel changes on it.

Plus you can always go up a dose if that doesn't help.

Mental therapy is a must. The letters CBT.

Do they mean anything to you?

It's so hard waiting to feel better.. But CBT, heard of it.. But I don't really know much about it.

Hi, Brooke

Welcome aboard and sorry you are dealing with this nonsense

I never took Prozac but know plenty here who have with great results

I agree with Jesse that you need to give it a good bit until you decide if it works for you

Xanax great for the instant relief when you are beyond what you want to tolerate of your anxiety

Hi, thank you..
I just can't see myself being able to wait that long :( anxiety today is bad.. I'm thinking I do need to try Xanax. It would just be relieving know that when I go out places, I have something with me to take the panic away if I start to feel it.. Ugh this is miserable!
