These people look at me like I'm crazy I was having chest pains and a rapid heartbeat so I came to the hospital and of course they say there is nothing wrong with me I have a really hard time believing them my heart rate was going crazy earlier does anyone else have these problems why can't I just accept the fact that I'm fine I never used to be like this

It sounds like a panic attack. Feels like your gonna die right? Ya, I dealt with that for a few years. Go see a therapist and learn breathing and relaxation techniques. And figure out why you started getting them in the first place! You're fine though , lots of people get that. Totally common. Dr's go to school for over 7 years then have 5+ years of residency. If you're doctor says you're fine, you're more that likely fine. Just try and relax. I know it's scarier than anything and you think you're having a heart attack, just remember you're ok. :)

They should give you a beta blocker
That will calm the heart a bit

Prozac and trazodone YAY!!! Those are some good ones friend but the racing heart is another story. A beta blocker will help with that..
Quick question???? When did you take the trazodone and when did you heart start racing?? Just out of the blue or some other reason???...
I will post a link here to the health anxiety thread for you in a second..
Welcome CubFlynn!!

And it was out of the blue wasn't doing anything or thinking about anything but once it started I started thinking about it which just made it worse

Ok...just wanted to be sure that it wasnt the trazodone itself, thank you because it can also cause that (it did that to me) but it was within 30 minutes afterwards...
Is that the first time you'd been to the ER and how long has this health anxiety affected you friend..????
E-Man.. :)

No this is a actually my 5th visit in the last 2 months and I had my first panic attack on January 3rd and ever since then I can't stop thinking there is something wrong with me so I am very new to the anxiety like I said I've only been on meds for 5 days

Oh wow, ok..
Yes, this is all very new to you then..
There are many, many others that have this same issue too so you're not alone!
Sometimes it just takes them awhile to get around here, all different time zones..
You should start a thread in the General Section too, about this health anxiety, about these 5 visits, a brief story about you as alot more people read the General section.
Do you also have like stomach aches, chest pains, shortness of breathe, throat feels swollen sometimes.????

Have you ever been diagnosed with acid reflux (GERD or GER)?....
Have you ever tried eating a tums to see if that helps the chest pains and stomach issues???
I take omeprazole everyday (for acid reflux) to keep my chest from burninng and my heart from burning too..and it keeps my throat from swelling too..
The other stuff is just related to anxiety and panic..bloodflow to the limbs is restricted when highly anxious or in a panic...
Hand tremors> Are you hypoglycemic? Like low blood sugar or is this just when youre in a panic?...
Sorry for so many questions, but we get places and find solutions this way....

Your fine I don't mind the questions my doctor has told me she thinks I have GERD but I've never has any tests about it and my blood sugar is always fine I get shaky hands mostly in the morning right after I wake up
Enduronman
02-26-2014, 06:33 PM
YES!!! Tell them to give you some PRILOSEC out there and get a prescription for it before you leave there!!!! It'll keep you out of the ER!!!!
Yes, your blood sugar is low in the mornings, that's why your hands shake..so do mine although I'm not hypoglycemic..I just drink some orange juice and it stops.
The GERD that you have explains most all of the symptoms that you have so please try to get a scrip for some omeprazole before you leave there or go to the nearest Walmart and get some on your way home...it will make you feelllll wwaaaaayyyy betttterr and you'll realize that this isnt heart attacks too!!.Just stomach acid in the wrong place.... Got it?????

The only test that they generally do is to give you a small cup of some nasty chalky stuff to drink that has a numbing agent in it to see if you feel better in 5 minutes...
Just get the meds instead because that drink is nasty... :)
cubflynn
02-26-2014, 06:35 PM
Got it i will try that and see if it helps thank you
Enduronman
02-26-2014, 06:39 PM
YES!!! YAY!!!!
You'll be amazed at how much it helps you..Kinda surprised they didnt make you drink that nasty stuff there actually....
What State are you in btw???

Ok, I think my neighbor was born near there...
I'm in Indiana...
Was just curious and it helps to know if you're American or from another country when suggesting different things...other countries cant just go out an buy the things we can here. and their docs wont prescribe things like ours do here either...

I have no idea about that
Enduronman
02-26-2014, 07:12 PM
I think that anytime (2) different AD's are used there may be that possibility but I think it's pretty rare considering one of them is used primarily as a sleep aid. I think some countries can buy that trazodone OTC now too just can't remember which ones.. Now if someone was taking prozac with celexa or paxil, something like that of the newer versions then it would be a definate concern...

02-26-2014, 07:14 PM
The trazodone is used to help me get to sleep

when I had panic attacks I took Clonazepam, works right away and don't need to take it everyday, just as needed! And when I say works right away I mean within a few minutes of it melting in your mouth. It helped me lots and that with therapy and I stopped getting panic attacks and am 100% off meds now. I do from time to time (I Mean twice in the last 3 years) take a quarter dose of my clonazepam to help me sleep now when it just WILL NOT happen lol best of luck! Lots of good posts on here, lots of good people on here. let me know how it all works out for you, and just remember you're fine !!!

Anxiety can cause terrible chest pains. Stupidly intense ones or dull long lasting ones. Worst is when they're intense but long lasting because that's when you convince yourself it's game over. Thing is all the pains we get are muscular due to anxiety. but sometimes you get caught off guard and a chest pain can feel real deep within and you ponder or should I say panic the question "Is it my heart?".
10 minutes ago I got very sudden left arm and shoulder pain. So i took a time out in the bathroom. Soon as I sat down the left side pain developed into severe chest pain and for 20 seconds I too wondered what was going on and if it was a heart attack. Good tip my Dr told me is that if you're having a heart attack or pending one you wouldn't be able to move your left arm above your head as it'd be agony.
Perhaps it's a safety practice that I raise my left arm if I come across sudden onset chest or left arm pain. Thing is a heart attack is severe pains and it'll be instantaneous and escalate rapidly. It won't be a pain that could be intense ands then go and then come back again. it'd be constant and unlike anything we've ever probably experienced when it comes to chest pains.
It's often hard ot accept how bad anxiety can hurt and hit you. It's baffling to be honest. but eh it's all down to fight or flight and muscular paibn and fatigue...I don't know.
I really am in agony most days. Just had to put up with it because it seems the general feeling is that you can reduce anxiety but completly curing it is probably not realyl possible with certain type personalities.
