Side effects to drugs are entirely random in nature, and have no bearing on the efficacy of the drug. So, although sexual side effects are common side effects to SSRIs, they don't always occur. And it is entirely possible that you may NOT experience a side effect, yet benefit from a drug. However, it is also possible that you may see neither sexual side effects NOR benefit from Paxil. And, of course, you could experience side effects, but NO benefit. This is just the way it works.
