I took Zoloft for about a month and I was taking 25 mg a day. I decided I didn't like how they made me feel and I felt worse on them than I ever did before starting medication. I quit cold turkey and didn't seem to have a problem. I actually felt better instantly. I have been off Zoloft for almost 2 weeks and I noticed a couple of days ago my head felt funny. I think I was having "brain zaps." That night I started having really bad anxiety or what I assume is anxiety. My heard starts pounding and my mind starts racing and I get shaky and I keep getting the urge to use the restroom. That lasted all night and kept me awake until about 5am. I felt a little better during the day yesterday. Then last night I laid down to go to sleep and fell asleep for about an hour and then woke up with what I think was an anxiety attack. It kept me awake all last night again I haven't felt better at all. I've barely slept and I've called my dr and she doesn't think it's withdrawal but it sound like what I'm having is anxiety attacks. I don't see her again until March 11th. I just don't know what my deal is. Has anyone ever gone through Zoloft withdraw and if so how soon did you start having the symptoms? At this point no one is helping me and I'm on the verge of driving myself to the emergency room.
Maybe you should ask to be prescribed a beta-blocker,as that's for anxiety,I've been taking it on and off for years and I've never had any side affects on or coming off

Hi I'm in the process of coming off meds and this is one of them. I've gone down from 100-50mg and will take them for a week. Then off. I asked my pdoc about this and I was told it will be out of my system one week later. If his answer is correct then I would think your experience is as a result of your anxiety rather than a side effect of residual Zoloft? I'm going to possibly face this too and wanted to know what to expect from withdrawing meds. well if this isn't withdrawal then I'm not sure what it is. I've never had anxiety this bad until I started taking medicine so that's what's really throwing me off. I notice I feel a little better when I get up and move around. It seems the worst when I'm laying down or trying to relax. It's always the worst at night I think.

Yep, being busy will normally keep our mind occupied but we lie down, try and rest then whoooosh....in with all the damn thinking! The anticipation is awful and can bring on these things too. I also believe that how your anxiety was and how it is now doesn't necessarily mean anything in relation to meds. Anxiety evolves all the time. It's like when we accept one symptom as anxiety another rotten thing crops up in it's place. If this makes sense? I'm not trying to tell you how you are or are not feeling. Just kind of my thoughts on these things. yeah I see what you're saying. I mean I'm having to be in my friend's wedding tomorrow so that might be playing a part in it. I know Monday I'm going to check about getting a physical or something just to make sure it's nothing health related. I haven't had a physical in a while so I need one anyways.
