Anxiety over lowering dosage

I've been on Effexor for 3 months, stopped at 375mgs, dr lowered the dose to 300mgs, I have always been under the impression that the more the better when a med isn't doing all it can do

now I have anxiety over the med change, has decreasing a med been beneficial to anyone?
