Hi,
I have my first appointment with a therapist March 25th and let me tell you I'm scared! I have suffered with anxiety's all my life and now for the first time I'm seeking help. Should I be afraid of this appoinment? I just don't know what to expect.....

Not at all. This is your chance to tell the doctor about everything that ales you and perhaps you may even be helped.

Good luck to you.

Thanks for your reply it helped ease things abit, they told me over the phone that I can expect to be there at least three hours, I will never make it that long. I'm afraid that I can sit there looking like I have nothing wrong with me and they will tell me to go home!

You may not actually need to be there for three hours unless thats the minimum amount of time you have to sit. Is it that you don't think you can talk for three hours?

The doctor will just ask you questions and you reply, but have an idea or a list made out in your head about what the main points you want to cover are. I used to have to write everything out on a page and repeat it back the next day because my memory was so bad from being worked up all the time. I'm ok these days though, and while I don't think therapy alone helped me it certainly was a contributing factor. Some people need therapy to realise theres nothing wrong with them, but need it none the less.
