View Full Version : Anxiety about changing meds :/

I just don't know what to take and it seems my Dr asks me what i want, instead of telling what she thinks would work the best.. Ive been having a lot of anxiety/panic the last few days which i'm assuming if Celexa was working i wouldn't be feeling this way, right?
Success stories with med changes? :/

Feels weird talking to you in a business setting like this.
So, hello Miss Nova.
Yes, it would seem from speaking with you a lot, that your meds aren't very effective for you.
Just going by the lists that come out, Zoloft is always near the very top for effectiveness and ease of use. I know kris is doing well on that, so that's one med to ask your Dr about if you wanted.
Celexa was mainly intended for treatment of depression. It's anti-anxiety properties aren't always the greatest. In some countries it isn't even prescribed at all for anxiety. Zoloft on the other hand is pretty tailored to anxiety, panic attacks, OCD and the like.
I do think there's a better med out there for you somewhere.
Took me four tries and two different classes to find mine, but it was life changing when I did. The same seems to be the case for kris, and the countless others that find something that hits the spot :)
Don't settle if you're I satisfied, it should be pretty easy to switch given you have some SSRI tolerance now.

I also had anxiety about the thought of changing my meds. I knew for a while that the celexa wasn't doing the trick for me but my anxiety prevented my from asking my doc to change because I was afraid of side effects and stuff. Despite the very minor spike in anxiety the first few days (which was due to the fear of potential side effects...which never even happened) it was the best decision I made. I feel 90% better. I'm not quite there but almost!
In my opinion, I think your delaying the inevitable. I think you gave celexa a fair shot and it's clearly not doing it for you.
It's time to get your life back. Good luck! Keep me posted:)

And, the transition from celexa to Zoloft was easy. It went perfectly.

Much like the others on the forum, i am scared to try something new... Blah blah blah...
Ive heard good and bad about Zoloft and its side effects and it being really hard to come off of..
My Dr did say that Zoloft has been approved for Pregnant women.. So it can't be that bad, right?
EMan also said something about Lexapro.. But then someone said on here that they gained 70lbs from Lex!!!
Well with my background or severe anorexia scared the shit outta me!
Industrial meds in and of themselves scare me as i try to live a completely organic and natural lifestyle... Ugh
Thanks Mr Jesse D...
I think ive got an appt. on Tuesday.. I'll ask about the Zoloft...

I was terrified to switch too, but I just decided that I was going to do it and I did. It has been a little rough, but hopefully it will get better as the weeks go on. I am going on week 3 Tuesday. I also see my pdoc Tuesday so I will be thinking of you as well!
Lexapro was great for me when I first started it 3 years ago, but it pooped out at the end of the year last year and I had horrible anxiety. I was on Zoloft before Lexapro and it was fine too. I am now trying Luvox.

Terre Nova you are not alone with that fear. I was terrified when my doc tried a few of meds on me, she is very careful and she started me on a very tiny doses, but it took about 6 tries to find the right one. Yes I gained another stone, but I have panic attack twice in the last 6 months... It is worth it.
Doc wants to cooperate with you, mine GP B**** never asks me what I want, and she gets so offended that I dare to know what is I expect from the meds.

Thanks Dahlia! And my Dr intimidates the shit out of me! One time she caused me to have a panic attack right in her office and i puked and didn't see her again for a year...
Shes a very loud and outspoken woman from Nigeria...
We shall see how it goes :/

Effexor XR is great. Regular Effexor (no XR) not so much for me. Changing can be scary indeed. A long time ago I dropped 1 mg. of clonazepam, and doc switched me to Effexor XR, it took a month to regulate, he gave me a month of Xanax as needed, and I didn't use it all. I wish you well Terre. Peace

My Dr refused to change my meds and wouldn't give me anymore Benzo's which were the only thing keeping me functioning... Even my pharmacist was horrified and recommended a second opinion....
So been feeling extremely shitty and haven't even wanted to come here to talk about it....
Depressed and anxious at the same time..
Feeling all out of sorts and hypersensitive to everything... Just wanting to hibernate until a semi normal life comes back to me..,
Feeling awful and let down.. :'(

E-Man..
So i waited over an hr to get in to see her..
She said my blood came back normal ect...
And then i told her after like 3 months i don't think Celexa is working...
Then she said that i haven't given it enough time!
I was like ummm everybody including my pharmacist says 4-6 weeks!
She's like NO 6-8 MONTHS!!! At that point i got teary eyed and asked her why she wasn't listening to me?
I said we talked about Zoloft last time, so what about that?
And she kept going back to staying on my Celexa as i haven't given it enough time...
THEN she said she's not giving me anymore benzo 's !!
I was like really so i have to go home and just feel this way with no relief? She's said its addicting... DUH!!
The only way i can function us a xanax in the morning and one at night..
Then she gave me a script for Seraquill?
Which ive taken before and hated only took it for 4 days!
So i went to my reg pharmacist and told her.. She was quit shocked and reccomended a second opinion and didn't even was to make me pay for a month worth as she wasn't too happy with the script choice or the Dr's opinion about Celexa or Seraquill.. Told me to take it for as long as i could tolerate it, no longer than a week if it doesn't help quickly...,
I was in tears and she felt so bad and she was quit irritated at my Dr....
So now i'm like in the worst of worsts with anxiety and emotion, like my Dr is a fucking twat bitch!!
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

Terre,
I just seen you posted and wanted to hurry and pass a video to you from an RN, who as is he says is not responding to his treatment, or no meds were working for him. I watched the vid yesterday and thought it may be of help to you. Others here may know more about the specifics of this medication, I do know it is used for fibromyalgia, but in his case it taook care of anxiety and depression. He called it Ultram, or Tramadol if I recall right. The best part is you can get it online. It's on the internet, and no script required as it is not a scheduled drug in US anyway. Let me come back and give you the video of this nurse. Peace
Okay here we go. Pass on as needed. Hope this helps you now. http://youtu.be/ltvTTNLp5x4

Now that she sleeps, her days are much, much better and she was a drug addict for 3 solid years too....SOOOOOOO
YOU SHOULD REALLLLLYYY GIVE THE SEROQUEL A TRY, YOU MAY BE SURPRISED LIKE SHE IS!!!!

In the UK Tramadol is currently a prescription medication and they are trying to give it a controlled class C drug status, we are unfortunately a "nanny state" so we have no chance of getting this apart from some random street corner in South London by next year.

Tiny is good!!! That's what she has too..She also has restless leg syndrome too and it helped with that...
She COULD NOT sleep, she has no complaints now and she was addicted to (methadone) for nearly 3 years too...
You gotta give this a go, it may be a blessing in disguise as I think that it really is....it'll help to lower those walls friend.
We're all here if you need us or wanna chat too..
