I still feel depressed, even though I'm on prozac, remeron, abilify and ativan for anxiety. How can this be possible? I've been on this for a few months, so it has had plenty of time to work, and I'm on the max dose of remeron already. I took the Beck's Depression Inventory and I'm still in the moderate to severe depression range. Is it really possible all of this medication is not working?

Could it be possible your depression appeared before your anxiety? Check your premises: do you have reason to be depressed? A traumatic life event, a loss, repressed emotions, feelings of guilt or regret, unresolved issues, unfulfilled dreams or desires?
I recently have been discovering through therapy that my depression came first, and my anxiety has been a reaction to it. And while medication can help, no amount of medication can remedy some of the issues I mentioned above. I'm on Effexor and Welbutrin and found that they have lost their effectiveness in my battle with depression. My answer, and possibly yours, lies in having recognized a sense of dissatisfaction about my life, and rediscovering how to regain that.
Something to think about. I always assumed anxiety preceded depression... that my anxiety was causing my depression. But I'm finding it might be the other way around.
