I'm on day 3 of lexapro 10mg and it's has been the worst one yet. Anxiety threw the roof and feeling like I'm going to have a panic attack all day long. When does this get better? Also I have vistral for panic attacks, is it ok to take while on lexapro.?

Hey Lorenzo.
Sucks you're going through a bad time. Usually a lot of the side effects are minimalised after week 2.
I know the feeling of hyped anxiety on SSRIs. Walking helped me a lot. Being out in the open, burning off energy. I walked for a couple of hours a day on a Prozac hype. Just counting off the days.
If your doc gave you both meds, sure you can take them as needed.
Do you have any allergies? I've got a bit of an allergy to something I can't work out, and Benadryl is awful for it. I've heard vistaril can be quite good for them.
Anyway, hope it starts to settle soon. Many people find writing out there journey is helpful.
You can make this thread your own, ask questions, vent, whatever. Upto you :)

Thank you for the info.! I don't have any allergies.
I've been trying to stay busy at work, but I work in the hospitality industry so it's hard to not show my anxiety. I just got this app yesterday and I have already found it very helpful. I love the positive feed back from everyone. It took me a long time to finally Tell my self it was anxiety making feel the way I am and I have always been against taking medication because of being worried about what it would do to me. So it's is a new step for me taking lexapro. I just hope it gets better sooner then later.

I take Lexapro. It was AWFUL the first week. I've never had such anxiety. I literally called my neurologist and told him my head was going to explode and my brain felt sideways. LOL. But it gets so much better if you just stick with it. And make sure they increase you slowly. Too fast causes more anxiety also. The Lexapro has helped me regain my life and function again. Hope you feel better!

I've been on 5mgs of lexapro for a year now... the first few days were rough for me... then I realized my anxiety symptoms were lifting and eventually my depression ones did also. Obviously call your doctor with any major grievances, but I would try and stick with it!

Thanks guys, I'm really glad I found this page.!! my anxiety is related to health anxiety. So when I feel all these weird symptoms and side effects I think there is something more going on like its a "real illness" ( I know anxiety is one) and it's something physical and not just my mind playing tricks on me. I have been to the ER and doctors over 15 times the last 5 months and they can't find anything wrong but I still don't believe them. I've been to gastro specialist, cardio and everything. It's just miserable. 😞

just take it easy. bear the side effects as they last for 2 weeks. and u will be super fine. 3 months with lexapro and u will withdraw it easily. this is what u should say to yourself. just like a heart needs its medicine, the brain needs lexapro and stuff. ok man. now get of this forum and do something do distract you.

Hi
Stick with the lexapro - it will come good. I honestly was like you a few weeks back. My meds had been doubled and my anxiety was through the roof. I felt so trapped and couldn't see an end to it. I had diazepam from the drs but was too scared to take it and just wanted to see if I could crack on without. It was very tough - I started writing a journal and looked up sold great meditations on you tube for anxiety. They really helped. Today is my first day of feeling 'normal'.
It really will happen for you - just take it min by min, hour by hour - try not to think too far ahead.
Sending lots of hugs. Xxxx

Lexapro is a great med for my anxiety. I have taken now for 3 years. Start up is rough for the first week but stick with it and you will be amazed after about ten days how good you will feel. I took up to 2 vistrial at bedtime as prescribed by dr to help me sleep for the first few months while starting this med. Good luck.
