Hi,
I am new here and looking for some advice. I was hospitalized back in October for a crazy blood pressure attack of 220/110. They tested every part of my heart and every other organ and determined that everything was healthy. They still sent me home on a high dose of BP medication. I had awful side effects. After seeing a cardiologist and kidney specialist and tracking my BP it was determined that I needed to go off those meds. I did that, but continued to feel really dizzy and short of breath. My Primary Care said she thought it was anxiety. She wrote me an Rx for Lexapro and I kept putting off filling it. I went to an ENT and had a VNG and an MRI and they both came back normal. I went back to my Primary Care and she said I should really try the Lexapro, not to be scared. So, I did. I just want to feel better. So, I started last Friday, 2/7. Since then, I have had a low grade fever, 100-100.6. I get really anxious feeling about 3-4 hours after I take it. I also have worse dizziness and really dry mouth and difficulty swallowing. Are these all side effects? My doc said that the first 2 weeks are rough, but then things turn around. I take xanax in between when I have issues and that helps. Any other experiences with this?

Hi Marly :)

A few years ago I took Lexapro for about 3 days but wussed out because I couldn't handle the side effects :( It also increased my anxiety and gave me the shakes. My advice to you would be to do the opposite of what I did and give it a little more time to work. Some meds are rough when you start out on them, and it's great that you have Xanax in the meantime to help.

It's hard to be patient, but keep at it! You'll get there!
