Hi my name is Jessica. I've dealt with depression off and on for about 15 years now but as of 3 or 4 years ago I was fine until anxiety started to really take over my life. I always thought anxiety was bearable as everyone gets it from time to time, that is until it hit me hard in my rear end one day causing me to think I was surely going to die. Now I'm to the point where I just cry and cry for no reason when anxiety strikes, not to mention the other goodies that come along with it such as numbness, nausea, loss of concentration, etc. You get the picture. I just get so embarrassed when this happens at work or other public places. My crying especially is uncontrollable at times. I want more than anything for it all to go away. I want to love myself again. I want to have motivation again. I want to be the wife and mother I use to be.

Hey Jessica. Sorry to hear about what's going on with you. There are a lot of people here to talk to with loads of experience with anxiety/depression. I too find myself wondering if I will ever feel like my old happy go lucky self again. When I think about it too much I think it actually makes it worse , for me anyways. I recently started looking more into Buddhism, mostly because Monks just look so damn peaceful! haha, but really, my aunty struggled with anxiety and she found it to help, so I am going to try out some of their practices. Just gotta find what works for you, I've been searching for a while, I've found some things that help but haven't gotten that 'AHA I get it' moment yet. What has helped you in the past with anxiety and depression?

Mostly medicationis are what help me. I've tried different breathing techniques, exercising, going outside more often... Going outside more definitely helped for longer periods that others. The sunshine put me in such a good peaceful mood. It's just really hard for me to actually want to get out for any length of time no matter what the weather is outside. I've also completely cut out sodas here recently which I'm sure is somehow helping but other than that just a few different medications have really ever helped.

You are what you eat right? So if you eat not so good food you're going to feel not so good. I used to eat crap and felt like crap and now I eat relatively healthy and feel better physically. I take vitamins every day, vitamin D is very beneficial to people who suffer from depression. Have you ever asked your dr if taking vitamins could help at all. I have a dog, and when I am feeling anything but awesome I snuggle up with him or go throw a ball outside or wrestle with him. He is always in a good mood no matter what and it kind of makes me shift my thinking a little. Do you have any distractions like that ? It couldn't hurt to have distractions :)

I dropped caffeine and cut down on sugar. Medication is what mostly helps me too.
