I too am wondering how people did on this med? Are there any crazy side affects? I know that it takes a while to start working( month at least). I like the idea that it doesn't make you sleepy and it doesn't depress your CNS. I was taking an antidepressant for my anxiety but I really hated the side affects. Thanks in advance for your input :)

Buspar can be used to treat anxiety but not panic but it is pretty mild and non addictive
I did not have success with it although my mom has been on it forever
I was having panic episodes and she was not
Effexor became the drug of choice for me that worked wonders

Thank you. Maybe I will give it a try! I'll ask my doc about the one you are taking as well. How are the side effects on that one?

Hi,
I am taking buspar. This is my second time on it. When I took it before, it was in combination with celexa. I'm not sure if it was the celexa or the buspar but it was a winning combination for me.
This time around, I'm taking it with Zoloft. Honestly, I'm beginning to think that it's the buspar that is helping me as opposed to the AD. I've been taking it for 12 days now (5mg in the morning and 10mg at night). I've been taking Zoloft 25mg with it for 6 days. Up until 6 days ago, I was taking the celexa and buspar combo for the second time and I wasn't feeling so good. But, I'm feeling so much better now...it's really amazing!
From previous experience with buspar, I remember the worst side effect was an occasional brain zap and weird dreams from time to time. Not much so far this time around.
I think you should give it a try.
Also, I haven't need to take any Ativan in 4 days!!
Good luck:)

No real side effects that I noticed
With guys, and I believe women too, their libido may slow down a bit
It does give you some pretty good brain zaps if you miss a dose

You know, kris
This is the first time in a while that I haven't mentioned someone contacting you about Buspar since I knew you had good results
The one time I don't, you just appear!
Good to see you.

Good to see you. thanks:) Seems I'm having positive results with the buspar again. I know it's a hit or miss with buspar, but for me it seems to work and I like it. I hate those damn brain zaps though...they're real trippy!

Glad that the Buspar works for you so well! What do you guys mean by "brain zaps"? :/

You can feel an electric current zap through your brain. It's harmless. I've had them many times...they just feel weird.

I agree with BusparKris,
The brain zaps feel like a little wave of dizziness that last just last a second
Harmless but annoying
Just don't skip a dose and you will not find out!

I mad a thread on this yesterday but I get ignored, I am on buspar and amitriptyline and I am doing very well. MY anxiety and crazy behavior has toned down a great deal, my OCD has toned down and I worry less and less depressed. I no longer "obsess" over negative thoughts. If I had a bad day I would toil over it for days or weeks upset and feeling doomed and not any more.

Really? So it's worth it? I find the negative thoughts the worst. They're hard to shake when you have a bad day. But it makes it worse.
Thank you. I will read your post. I don't think anyone ignores you :) I myself find it hard to give advice or help when I feel this awful, and I bet others do too. Don't take it personally :)
I do appreciate everyone who has replied. It's calming to know you're not alone with it.

Yes I am always worried and stressed and obsess over negative thoughts. worry about my job. Now I do not over worry and i can sleep. I know some worry is normal but I know all i can do is my best and worrying obsessively will not change an outcome. So I am still worried about my job but not to the extent to where it was crippling my life. I actually been going to bed every night with a clean mind. I do not know if its the buspar or the other drug or combo of both but my degree of worry and fear and stress has greatly been reduced.

I second Nixon... Effexor seemed to be the one that worked the best for me. And he is correct, one side effect is a weaker libido. But it's not that bad :)

I didn't have a weaker libido, just a little more problem in the finishing department
As a guy, I was very pleased!

I tried Effexor for 2 days and had the same symptoms, IDK if it was a bad or good thing but I gassed out before I was actually finished lol.. Other side effects I had was feeling zoned out like a zombie, nausea, and sleeplessness.
I've been taking Buspar for the past week, have no noticeable side effects but IDK if the medicine is working or not because I feel the same anxiety as usual.

Long ago I took buspar, seemed fine but my whole body seemed to buzz while on it. Slowed down thinking too, I like Effexor (XR only), the body zaps when you get off of it do occur, but when anxiety is gone it don't matter, since you don't mind it. Peace

Much like antidepressants, Buspar can take 2-4 weeks to see any results. I think you should give it some time. What dose are you taking?
I've been taking buspar for almost 3 weeks and I'm feeling much better (also taking Zoloft). I had no side effects from taking the buspar so far. And, I haven't required any Ativan in almost 2weeks! I hope you get positive results from it like I did. Good luck:)
