Oh hey fisher :)

Was just cooking, so, not paying too much attention. It's easier reply here instead of Facebook as the type box is bigger lol

What type of magnesium is it? (Citrate, taurate etc)

And what's the amount of magnesium in one tablet, in grams?

Should tell you in the back!

You'll be fine with that amount, I take 500mg, so you're good :)

My mum takes that one actually. Last time I went to her house I saw it on her shelf!

It can do fisher! It's a good supplement for your muscles and for your nerves - both affected by anxiety.

Lots of people are on the low side too, especially women cos of your...monthly thing... shall we say, lol.

I've been taking Magnesium Chloride (slo-mag) a week now. Seems good, and sleep seems to come earlier. Not noticing much change in anything really. Peace Fisher, there is good reports on this topic here though.

Yep I take slo - mag which is magnesium chloride. I take one in the morning and one at night. The dosage is for 2 pills so I just split it up. I am also trying the Amino acid therapy with L- glutamine as well as per a sticky post somewhere on this forum. No complaints so far.... It's only been a week.

It's really as simple as typing 'magnesium' in the search bar and reading other posts containing the word magnesium..

Hi Fisher.

My wife and I have taken a product called "Calm" and also a product called "Natural Tranquility† Magnesium".

These are both available in 16 oz containers and are in powder form. All you do is add hot water (but be careful since it fizzes quite a bit, so very slowly add the hot water.)

We take this before bed and it really helps us to sleep better. (It also assists in digestion and keeping you regular, for what it's worth.)

These containers can be a bit more pricey if purchased at a health food store, so I like to shop on-line at the various vitamin companies. I don't know if it's OK to mention it, but I buy all my supplements at VitaCost as they usually offer the best prices for all their merchandise.

Hope that helps!

Hiya take a lookthanks for the advice, what is calm is it like them calms u buy?i took my magnesium last night and couldnt sleep

No, it's different than the Hyland's "calms" tablets.

"Calm" is simply powdered magnesium. It's water-soluble magnesium. Just take a teaspoon of the powder and add hot water. (But do it slowly because it'll bubble right over the top.)

It's a high quality magnesium product that actually helps balance your other calcium intake, and the result is a natural stress reliever.

"Calm" is a brand name but you can find other powdered magnesium elsewhere. I'm sure if you type "powdered magnesium" into Google you'll only have hundreds of products and suppliers to sift through, LOL! But there's a few really good on-line vitamin companies.

My wife and I never really got much benefit from the "calms" tablets. But the powdered magnesium has certainly helped. It's not a cure-all, but has improved our sleep and sense of balance and well being.

I know I feel physically better when I take it. Kind of like my body was missing something and it fills the bill.

I take the "Natural Calm" mag-calcium powder. It works very well with relaxing me when I'm feeling edgy. It's great to take before bedtime or if you just wanna calm down and chill.
You can buy it at a health food store, Vitacost, or Amazon.
Magnesium is a great natural supplement for anxiety :)
Hope this helps!

That's an interesting question, fisher. I guess for me, I felt a very subtle difference right from the get-go. Nothing too dramatic. But my body somehow "knows" when I don't take it before bed. I just don't seem to sleep as well, or when I wake up, I don't feel as rested as I did.

I used to take magnesium when I used to get two migraines a week. And that helped for that as well. (I used to suffer from migraines for about 20 years.)

Though I don't get migraines anymore, I still take the magnesium becuase it's good for the body overall.

I guess you'd just have to try it and see.

If you're taking the powder, I can't imagine it would take longer than a week to feel something. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you noticed that it helped in some fashion within a couple days.

Keep us posted how it works for you!

L-glutamine is powdered. Magnesium Chloride is in tablet form. Look on Amazon.....they have generic Slo-Mag pretty cheap and it's the same thing as brand name Slo-Mag. L-Glutamine is made for body builders, but it works for the brain as well. I take both of these and in addition I take Twin Labs brand Amino Fuel. It has 3 essential B complex vitamins in it as well as a boatload of other essential aminos. Are you presently taking any pschye Meds ? If so I would consult you doc first to be on the safe side. If not.....load up on this stuff......It has worked very well for me. I got off Paxil about a month ago and this combo has been a godsend. Good luck to you and give it a shot....

I want to update my info. I dropped the L-glutamine. I had gotten up to 5g's. 5000mg's. I became angry with it, as did my son, and his wife. His wife was immediate, he was a week out, and I was almost another week from him. I will probably take it again but not above 1,000mg.

I did up my magnesium chloride to 400-525 mg a day, and am doing real fine. I do take Effexor 37.5 mg, and 1.5 mg. of clonazepam daily. Effexor was at 150mg.

Clonazepam was at 3.0mgs a day years ago, so less is more for now. I recently (January) was experiencing panic attacks which I had not had for many many years and began the

Effexor again, as I did stop that completely, and the clonazepam was at 1.0 mg. Went up .5 mg. Sleep is good, appetite good, mood stable, thoughts positive (brain sync, and

affirmations daily). Actually as I quit the L- glutamine and upped the Magnesium Chloride, I am quite astounded how I can go with the flow, so much easier. I will drop the meds back down as I feel the need to, and it seems I will know when that is, as I have before. Mindfulness

is a key for me. Let us know how you are Fisher. Wishing you well. Melatonin is great for sleep/anxiety ( no prescription needed) as well.

Peace

My doctor recommended I take magnesium two weeks ago. I've been doing the Calm magnesium powder, 350mgs. Anyway, I've not noticed a lot. Except last night I woke up with a leg cramp. I googled it & learned that although magnesium will help with muscle cramps, it can cause them if your dose is too high. Anyone experience this?

GeneAllen
02-25-2014, 05:47 PM
You're on a low dose of Magnesium, and you doctor prescribed you take it. You're just having leg cramps most likely. A balance of calcium, potassium, need to be kept as well. My Best to you, keep us posted please. Peace
