Hi all, I am 20 years old and just recently found out I am suffering from anxiety. I always suspected I had an issue with it but now I know for sure. It seems as though once I found out I noticed all the places in my life where it affects me. It explains so much!!! It's hard to deal with and I am going to start counseling soon. Just wanted to say hi. I don't know anyone with anxiety so I guess having people to relate to here will make things a bit easier to understand.

Hi,
Im so happy for you that you are seeking counselling for anxiety issues. Counselling have helped so many people, I hope it works for you.
Im 19 (almost 20) and suffer from a range of different anxiety disorders, So I most definately relate!!
Anxiety is hard to deal with at first, but once you understand it and recognise it things will become so much easier. You will learn techniques to help ease some anxiety through counselling and remember your not alone!! :)

I am seeking counseling through my school and have a therapist I am seeing weekly now. I saw her for the second time on Friday since I was "diagnosed" with anxiety... after talking about so much of my anxiety she told me that what I am probably dealing with is General Anxiety Disorder... I think it's GAD... She also thinks I should be on medication for a while and wants me to see a doctor. I am a bit nervous about this but I want to do what will help me. :(

Yeah i have gad, its just basically a name for anxiety that doesnt really have one point of trigger..like say phobias etc..
Just talk to your doctor :) see if meds could help for you, not for everyone though so talking through the benefits and symptoms etc will help a lot.
