First of all i'm new here, so I'm not entirely sure how things work around yet. I am sorry if it's too long...............
ok, so I have a lot of anxiety, it always has to do with the future and changes...this is the one biting at me right now:
I just found out about those experiments that are being made for the sake of incurable illness, and while the supposed purpose is wonderful, I'm afraid they'll try to go even further.
his is what it said on the link i meant to post, sorry it is long..........
Scientists have created more than 150 human-animal hybrid embryos in British laboratories.
I cite from link provided by yahoo:
"Super humans may be created. Let's think about this. Let's say that some humans were given a stem cell transplant from certain chosen animals. Then the sayings like, " A nose like a dog" and " The eyes of an eagle" will actually be true. Who knows, maybe these stem cells might be used to create a super human military. I don't want to sound crazy but how do we know that it is not already being used in the military?
The creation of a new species. Here is the most frightening aspect of the entire issue, at least for me. The scientist take an animal cell and inject human sperm into it to create the embryos. What is created is called a para human and/or human-animal hybrid embryo. By law as was said in the article, the embryos are to be destroyed after fourteen days after creation. Who's to say that some were not destroyed and allowed to live to be studied by the scientists. First off, a new species could have been created!
What will happen if one of the hybrids breaks out of the lab? I would think if it looks more human than it would mate with another unsuspecting human. And, if it looks like more of an animal it would mate with the animal that it resembles. I don't know which would be worse, an animal that thinks like a human or a human that follows it natural instincts as an animal. This would forever change human evolution as we know it. Who knows, maybe these hybrids would multiply and take over the world in the future.
My opinion. The entire idea about creating embryos that are human-animal hybrids and/or para humans makes me a little uneasy. I'm glad that I found out about this but on the other side I'm uneasy about the fact that this was allowed to happen in the first place. Now that this information is out there I feel that we as humans should be told about the experimental results of creating the para human stem cells. It would make me less uneasy if there were actual cures found for major illnesses.
As a human, I'm pretty open to pushing the limit in finding cures for all diseases. But, creating para humans is where I draw the line in the sand."
Hearing/reading about stuff like this really throws me off, and makes the future seem like I rather nightmare-like place i rather not get to. Science can be a really messed up thing...first, those mentionings and experiments made about reaching immortality, and now this. The so called immortality experiments like: Nanobots, uploading the mind to a computer or body....etc. Still really bothers me,some times i get over it, but they ALWAYS come back to haunt me. I guess the thought of people messing with things that i consider fundamental. Like, what if we achieve immortality? I know it might not be fully fully immorality, unless we go with the nanobots plan which could heal all of our wounds, and even keeps us alive during heart attacks and more, in which case death would become rarity compared to the present time. Anyways, if we were to reach immortality, wouldn't it take a way a lot of meaning? if we just had all the time in the world,i know we could do much more with out time(those who are passionate and love to seek to do that is), wouldn't it make things less precious? would we all just care less? These things bother so much.
These things seriously make me feel depressed, uneasy, disturbed and scared, and distracting myself doesn't help, and i have none one i can turn to. I hope none of this happens during my life time, and yes i do try to live in the here and now, but it really gets to me.
I don't go around looking for this things, sadly, i have the horrible, irksome luck to just run into them, mostly when doing homework for college or watching buzzfeed videos which I now consider avoiding.
Two other things i'd like to point out, overall I do love science, these type of horrid experiments are the things that I hate. I am not religious.
Another thing that makes me feel this way are robots. They attempt to make robots that can "think". Now, i'm not afraid of that mainstream robots-take-over-earth thing but i do worry on how they can affect our society. They're already making robots that can be store clerks, journalists, they write and one "learns" to react on his own, teachers, and such, which takes away job opportunities for actual real people who need them. I heard of a young man who has always dreamed of being a journalist, he is concerned over this matter and I truly see where he is coming from. A now, they're also planning on replacing solders with robots, it's a good thing because that way humans won't be killing each other off in war,but this can backfire.
