I feel so anxious each and every day that I have to take one two or even some days three ativan just to function without the feeling of panic taking over. Does anyone else have this experience? I was started on the max dose of buspar over a week ago and so far I can't tell any difference...I still have to take the same amount of ativan. Any advice?

Hi. I am still taking Ativan daily as well. But I have weaned down to once a day (0.25mg) from taking it three times a day. I'm working on cutting it out altogether.
In my opinion, that is what Ativan is for. If you feel your level of anxiety merits taking an Ativan, than do it. Hopefully, over the coming weeks your need for Ativan will decrease as the buspar levels out in your system.
I also just started taking buspar as well, 5mg three times a day. I think my anxiety is pretty much in check right now, my biggest issue is my sleep. I'm not sleeping well and I'm exhausted all day long. I was hoping the buspar would help that. How are you sleeping?

I'm sleeping well at night because the remeron I'm on pretty much knocks me out. Without it for some reason the buspar made it hard for me to sleep. I would wake up and couldn't go back to sleep. Also, I'm only taking the buspar twice a day...once in the morning and then at bedtime. I was hoping this would help with morning anxiety, but it hasn't so far...

i'm not sleeping well either, kris. it really messes with your emotions. i'm crying all the time. you should check out some sleep medications.

Have you tried taking the ativan to help you sleep? Sometimes it makes me sleepy, so it might work.

I take avitan 4mg per day for anxiety . At first it was a godsend for me . Now after tarts of not being bale to love without it & only get a slight ease on my panic . Ovs i am tolerant to them I'll always have then now I'd vd scared if i didn't have any in case of the big overwhelming attacks that can happen any where out I of nowhere .

I used to take Ativan every night to go to sleep. What is your question?

Ativan is good as short term help, it is easy to develop tolerance to it. I stopped taking it at all , using different meds. I would love to stop meds in general, but it is not easy. Talk to you doc, about the meds..;)

I took it daily for a short while but you have to make sure you following up with psychotherapy to see if you can find and address any cause/source for your anxiety.
Also make sure diet is low/very low clean of nutrasweet, MSG, refined sugar, caffeine and alcohol until you are much less anxious. Meds are only part of any treatment for most folks. Alankay.
