Hi everyone! I'm new here & thought I'd introduce myself. My name's Suzie and I'm 22. I've been suffering from anxiety since I was about 13. I also suffer from another condition called misophonia. Does anyone else on here have it?

Hey Suzie
Misophonia - that sucks. What kind of treatment are having for that?
I don't have it, but nonetheless, still wanted to say hi :)

Thanks! :)
I'm not having any treatment for it specifically. I'm on medication for my anxiety but it doesn't fully cute it so sometimes have to take Valium if I'm too worked up :( I've seen a therapist a few times but she hasn't heard much about misophonia so she couldn't really help me! I'm open to any suggestions anyone has? I'd do just about anything to be rid of it!!!

Hi Suzie and welcome here to the forums !
What exactly is misophonia?.. I looked it up and it says that it is "a neurological disorder in which negative experiences (anger, flight, hatred, disgust) are triggered by specific sounds" .. How severe is it for you, and are there any sounds you really can't stand that trigger those emotions? I don't think I have this, but there are some sounds I hear (like people scuffing their feet in the store) that really drive me mad and I have to control myself, so I don't start screaming..

Thanks everyone!!!
Without me looking up a description of it, the way I'd describe it is a sensitivity to some sounds. Its not very common, hence why there isn't much help out there for it. Trust me to get it right...
When I hear my trigger sounds I go into a rage. I feel like the people making the sounds are disgusting and I get so so angry and emotional. Most of the time ending in tears! My main triggers are people breathing loudly, sniffling, lip smacking, snoring, a sound some people make after the take a drink, and there are a few others. I've had it for probably about 10 years now as far as I can remember but it's gotten pretty sever over the last 5 years :( I often think of what a waste of the life I'm living because it can get pretty unbearable :(
