Maybe try some L tryptophan . 1-2 grams a couple hours before bed. Might help and is safe. Alankay

If you're not prone to self medicating, a good tall glass of red wine would put me out like a light;);)

I would often lay in bed on my back, tighten and tense each muscle group then relax them

that got my whole body calm and often fell asleep before I ever finished

And a cup of Camille tea helps greatly

I don't know the cause of your anxiety but could be you just aren't tired enough to fall asleep yet? I know when I try laying in bed to fall asleep and I can't I start to feel restless and anxious. Try reading a book or writing in a journal, get up go have a drink or snack. Then try again later. Don't do too many activities that stimulate your mind.

When I take a pill it not always works, so instead of suffering in bed i get up and plays some stupid game for a while, then go back. It usually work

Sometimes benedryl would work, sometime melatonin would work, sometimes a beer would work,..but most of the time, shutting the mind off would work best. Ok, thought processes done for today, because I can't so anything about any of it while laying here in bed anyway...zzzzzzzz Tomorrow is another day... :)

In the same boat. I wish chamomile tea would work for me. Sigh.

I'm always shattered when I go to bed, then as soon as my head hits the pillow I'm wide awake! So frustrating!

Gotta reset that body clock!

Pull a 24 hour session, as in stay awake for over 24 hours.

Go to bed at a proper time, say 11pm

As long as you have forced yourself awake for a long period prior, then you will fall asleep.

Aim for 8 hours sleep.

Don't eat anything 6 hours prior to going to bed

Job done.

I have to do this quite a bit as its not unusual for me to pull 30+ hours at work.

Get a script for melatonin,...to reset the internal clock, (as MIST mentioned)......its a hormone! :)

I will give the same advice I gave yesterday here; if you are going to use Melatonin - only do so short term. Messing with your hormones in the long term will cause more problems.

Other things that can help - have a routine to wind down. I usually watch TV or read a book in a room with low lighting after 8pm or so until I go to sleep... it really helps. Basically, do something relaxing - just avoid doing anything that keeps your brain active.
