I'm on my 2nd day of Prozac 10mg for Anxiety/Panic. I know the first 2 to 4 weeks are the hardest. I don't want to quit until I've given it a fair shot. Any suggestions on how to alleviate early side effects? I am nauseated, dizzy, spacey, and my anxiety is increased.
Thanks for any thoughts.
Crystal

Thank you for the support!
I hope it gets better, because I'm so close to giving up already.
I guess I just need to tell myself this is all normal for the first couple weeks.
I also take Xanax and the past two days, I've been taking more than usual because of the uncomfortable side effects of the Prozac.
I've tried Paxil, Lexapro, and Pexeva in the past. So, fingers crossed this time around.
Thanks again for your words.
Try to relax. I have been on it for a couple of months and noticed the same side effects. Honestly I think I was just allowing myself to panic over an unfamiliar medication and what I was feeling was due to my anxiety rather than the meds. They definitely gave me some nausea for the first day and insomnia the first week though. 2 months down the track I feel much better and am really grateful for the meds. Just hang in there & let them do their job. I know it's awful at the moment, it was for me too, but it's worth sticking with it. I started to feel less anxious after 3 weeks and my anxiety continued to die down after that.

That's always the biggest hurdle.
Taking the meds when your Anxiety swears that you will have traumatic side effects
99% of the time it's the fear of the meds that makes us feel like we are encountering side effects

Thank you Elsa & NixonRulz.
Your words are extremely helpful. I'm on day 9 now and I think the worst was a couple nights back. My anxiety morphed the side effects into extreme fear. Simple dizziness was a stroke, said my panic. Nausea must be a heart issue, said my panic. It truly IS the biggest hurdle.
I see a light at the end of the tunnel though. Hearing your story, Elsa, is inspiring.,
Thanks again to both of you.
Cheers to patience & resilience :)
