My doc just put me on a lexapro and wellbutrin combination and I'm having anxiety just from looking at the side effects!

Basically, I'm going to be happy, less anxious, and I might stop smoking, but I'll be fatter and have limited to no libido and probably not be able to orgasm. I'm not liking this at all! I'm already a chubby gal struggling with weight issues and I don't want to take something that's going to increase that struggle. And not to be ugly, but I have a very healthy libido and I'd like to keep it that way.

Does anyone have good news about this combo? Please tell me it's not this extreme. I'm just so upset that this anxiety is controlling so much of my life.

That seems kind of odd to prescribe 2 antidepressants at the same time. Did the doctor give a reason for that?

I'm a smoker and I want to quit, but the anxiety makes me smoke more so she thinks the wellbutrin will help.

I'm assuming that's not a common combination?

One of the most common side effects, is growing an extra arm... Sorry :(

You should be fine Laura! The two meds go quite well together.

A lot of people try escitalopram, and if it doesn't work, have Wellbutrin added to it to increase effectiveness.

They also offset each other; escitalopram can decrease libido, Wellbutrin increase it, so the first few months may be iffy, but your libido should remain pretty good!

Neither are common drugs for weight gain. Weight gain isn't a big reported side effect on either drug. (for those without health complaints)

Plus you will have a better chance at quitting smoking too!

I'm a fan of this combination for you! I hope it works! :)

I have seen this a few times before, one counteracts the effects of the other..and it seemed that the people were generally happy with the results too! (just be patient for the first few weeks)...:)

Oh my goodness, thank you! I have been so worried about this. I'm just going to try it and give it a few months and see how it does. From now on I will not google side effects. I think I'd rather be fat and happy than skinny and depressed anyway! Thanks again!
