Hey I've had this anxiety for weeks now and it's not going away! I'm 14 years old and a runner, but haven't being able to run since..... It all started when a kid vomited in our class, I wouldn't usually be that concerned, but since he had a bug I was worried I was going to catch it! So that was the first stage when I didn't sleep for a bit, then I got over it. Then I had the stage where I worried myself sick, so I actually felt sick, but when I got my mind off it everything was usually ok! But now I'm in the situation where whenever I worry I get stomach pains and sometimes feel sick, this has happened for about 2 or so weeks and I really hate it! Nothing like this has ever happened to me before, luckily I'm back to running, but still get tummy pains when I run a bit, but it's getting better! It's holidays and I've got lots of things planed, I've being to the doctor and he thought it was anxiety too, but was going to do some tests on me just to be sure! I haven't had the tests yet, because I'm a little worried! I'm worried that there's something wrong with me, like either a tummy infection or something else, I would do anything not to vomit, and I've only taken medicine 1 or twice a few times a day! The tummy aches aren't a dull pain, just sore and annoying, and when I feel sick I don't feel like I'm going to be sick- right then right now! I have on and off days which really annoys me, but I haven't felt 100% in weeks which annoys me too! Usually I feel my worst in the mornings and sometimes as night! I want this to go away so I can live my normal life, as it's taking over my life!

I haven't vomited yet from this, and I don't want to vomit! I haven't vomited really in years! I'm probably not eating as much as I should be as a runners, but it's hard to! I get these tummy aches on and off (usually mornings and afternoons, but if I don't distract myself sometimes all day!) I only feel sick if I think about it too much! And sometime I get a little jealous of other people because they don't have this problem! I hate this so much. And it's hard to believe that this was caused from just one person vomiting! What do u thinks wrong? I'm a little freaked out and overwhelmed by this situation! It's all too much sometimes!

You sound like u suffer from emetephobia. This is a phobia of sick. I suffer with it too and I know exactly how u r feeling.
Do you mind if I ask where ur pain is whether it is the upper stomach or lower tummy area and do u get a burning sensation?

Yeah that's what I thought at first, but my parents didn't! It's kinda of in the middle of my stomach, near my belly button! It feels like just annoying and pretty sore, it's not really achy it's just there! I can still run,and don't feel sick or anything it does actually get better sometimes when I run or distract myself! What do u suggest? Have u gotten over the phobia?

I would def suggest seeing ur doctor about the pain. I don't want to scare you because if it's like what I have then it's not life threatening so don't worry but the doctor believes my anxiety and this phobia has lead to something called gastritis. I'm 24 so not very old and it's painful. Mine started achy and sore. But it's got worse but it's NOT life threatening.
Do you get the pain when ur anxious or concentrating on something that makes u anxious?
Does it hurt more when u are hungry?
Do you have a fear of being sick?

I havnt got over my phobia. Not sure deep down I ever will because it's something that's very much a massive part of my life and I have a barrier I put up I'm a very anxious person when it comes to sick I'm a totally different person.
I have CBT for my phobia at the moment

Yeah I've seen a doctor and he thought it was anxiety, but I might be getting a few tests just to be sure, but he was almost certain- which made me feel better! I usually get the pains when I start worrying about it, but I can distract myself pretty easily and it goes away, but if haven't really felt 100% in 2 weeks but this week had being the best week yet, which I'm pretty happy about! I usually get my pains in the mornings and at night, but I can sleep fine! I'm really not sure what to do, my mum and dad said since this had being going on for so long that I'm not going to be sick- so I'm not worried about vomiting anymore, I'm just worried that there is something wrong with my stomach- so I might go and get the tests, so I can rule things out and get over it! But the bad thing is I'll have to get a blood test, and I don't really like needles! And also when I'm hungry if I don't already have a pain I don't get it but if I do it usually stays and gets better when I eat, but I usually just feel it at night and in the morning! Right now I'm worrying a little bit and trying to distract myself, it's not as bad as it was but it's still there a little bit, it's not concerning me too bad! I hope this doesn't lead into something big! And I'm sorry if I offend you, but I've got a very powerful mind so anything that's said that's wrong with me (even if it's not true) could be locked in my mind and I will possibly worry about it! I don't know what to do- any suggestions????

Don't be silly u won't offend me I know exactly what u mean don't worry. U might find that it's hurting because u have a lack of food in ur stomach. And in the mornings as u obviously know, you haven't eaten all night. Do u burp a lot?
Only thing I can suggest is possibly looking at ways to over come any anxiety or phobias you have a natural way like councelling or CBT. I have had anxiety since I was tiny maybe even 7 years old and I havnt taken any prescribed meds for it. Some people they work on some people they don't but try find a way of dealing with it outside of tablets. If you can distract urself away from these feelings you are doing well because iv gone past that stage and my anxiety has made me quite poorly with my stomach.
With my sick phobia I only 'freak out' when I know that it's contagious and I could get It. If someone is pregnant or it's medication or alcohol that's made them sick I'm not as bad. No one likes sick if they did that would be strange in my eyes but it don't freak me out.
Just keep positive and speak with ur doctor and ur parents as much as u can or keep a diary

And friend, you're a runner which means burning calories (that you don't have to burn) so your body is burning...itself.
E-Man.. :)
