This is my first post, but I've been visiting this site for a few months now. I'd like to thank everyone for their input, it's comforting knowing I'm not alone. Well here's my question:
I began seeking help for anxiety and panic attacks about three months ago. Severe anxiety has left me unable to work so I have no health insurance and began seeing a counselor/therapist at a kind of free clinic for mental health issues. My therapist said he thought I would benefit from anxiety and depression medication and referred me to a psychiatrist. my Question is will I be required to have a physical exam to rule out physical causes for the anxiety before a psych. will prescribe meds? I am ill prepared to pay for testing that I'm sure I don't need.
If anyone has any experience with this could you please reply? Thank all of you again!
