Hi I am new to this forum. Hoping I am posting to the right thing?? I am a anxiety sufferer for many years. I think that one of the worse parts of dealing with anxiety is losing your self confidence. Constantly feeling like your not good enough. I often get caught up in the poor me thinking. Looking around at others and wishing I had their willpower or their strength to even be able to do the simplest things. Anxiety for me can and will keep me guessing about my abilities if I let it. I just wish the cycle didn't take so long to break once it arises. I pray alot!

I have been taking Lexapro for three years now and I has done wonders for my suffering. I do on occasion have break through episodes which always send me back into a tailspin. When this happens I feel as though I go right back to square one. All coping skills lost in the fog of lightheadedness and fear. Such a crazy feeling cycle.

Yes, the self doubt anxiety can cause can be really devastating. It's one of the lesser/least discussed symptoms.
I've found the best way to restore it is by acknowledging it and challenging yourself with small things you have some doubt about and seeing for the most part you are far more capable that you thought. Develop coping mechanisms and support.
Understanding the role of anticipatory anxiety plays in self doubt it critical. Alankay

I hear ya. I have learnt (and still learning) the hard way about comparing myself to others. nothing good ever comes from it. it seems like it's human nature to do so though. when i'm feeling inadequate, all i see is my own shortcomings and how easy things seem to come to others. i have learnt though, that it is usually a very limited perspective. everyone has their shortcomings, and everyone has their strengths.

something that has helped me, is to instead compare myself to me. to make regular, small, achievable goals. not only does it make you feel more confident by achieving those goals, but over time, those small goals turn into big achievements.
