Concentrating on your breathing is the best way to stop panicking. Your breathing will be shallow and fast when you are panicking. You need to concentrate on breathing slowly and from your stomach and the panic will subside. It might only take 3-5 slow breaths to help, but it takes practice and then you don't even realise you are using it.
