Hi I've been visiting this forum for some time now, but have only just got around to registering and telling my story.
My anxiety disorder was brought out in february when my girlfriend and 3 year old daughter were involved in a car crash. my girlfriend who was pregnant at the time, broke 5 of her ribs (baby was fine) and had general trauma from the accident.
My daughter however, suffered a major head injury and sadly died 5 days later.
As you can imagine this has caused a lot of emotions and depression, I was diagnosed with anxiety in June after one doctor could not figure out what was wrong with me.
My symptoms are; IBS, Feeling faint or dizzy, not wanting to be alone for fear that i'll die, fear of dying early from an incurable illness, tight muscles and feeling queasy. I've only ever had a couple of actual panic attacks early on.
I've always been someone who worries and anytime I feel faint or sick, I fear that I have cancer or something serious, I find it hard to relax and get on with life.
Does anyone else feel like this?? has anyone been through something similar to me and suffered anxiety because of it??

First let me say that I am very sorry for your loss, and for the horrible tragedy you have endured. Any person who has had to deal with the pain and sadness that you have been faced with would feel as you do.

You would benefit from seeking help through a professional that deals with "post traumatic stress". Please don't waste any time in getting help. The sooner you get care, the sooner you will feel better. With therapy, medication (if necessary), and time, you will feel "normal" again.

I will be rooting for you every step of the way!

Me again..............
I just wanted to add that a therapist specializing in Grief Counseling should be able to help you work through your grief and anxieties. It will take some time, as you have been through a very traumatic event, but they are trained to help people recover from situations such as yours.

You asked if anyone has been through a similar experience. Well 'no', but I tried putting myself in your shoes for a moment, and the pain was unbearable, and that was just visually, and only for a moment. My heart goes out to you big time!
Remember that your daughter would want you happy and 'living' your life.
She wants to see you live, love, and laugh again.
And you will............

Hello strybe

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of you daughter. Try and be strong --tough I know.
Take heart in knowing the physical symptoms you are having is a common response to a trauma
like this. I have never lossed a living child---the pain must be
unbearable. There are support groups where others have gone through
a similar experience---there might be one in your area. There is
comfort in the understanding of others who are walking your walk.

Maybe if you want-- make an appointment with a counsellor---like
rechick has suggested. We all need help in times like this.

You take care
