Hey guys,

My name is Luke, and I've been suffering from Anxiety/ panic for around 4 years now. Mine started when I got back from university and got my first job. At first I had no idea what was wrong with me, I went through a confusing period where I thought my symptoms were pointing to me having a brain tumor or something very serious like that. I was suffering from tunnel vision, sweating palms, shaking, urgent need to go to the toilet etc. It wasn't until I started doing some research that I found out these were all symptoms of panic attacks, and once I knew this I felt so much better and the attacks themselves stopped.

3 years on and the only real symptoms I was suffering were some physical ones like scratching my head when nervous, and feeling the need/urge to check my pulse and touch my chest. I was coping OK with these, until a week or so ago when my dog got attacked in the street and mauled by another, much larger dog. I had a panic attack after I managed to separate them, a process in which I also got slightly injured. Since then, small things like meeting at work have been setting me off again and making my throat close up/stopping me being able to swallow and a need to keep moving (fidgeting).

I've been to the doctors last week and he has recommended me for CBT, which I am trying to arrange at the moment. He also wanted to prescribe beta blockers, but has told me explicitly that this is not possible as I had asthma as a child. Instead, he has prescribed 10mg of Citalopram everyday, which I started taking on Saturday night. Sunday was OK, but then after last nights tablet I woke up at 03:00 AM feeling nauseous and sweating profusely, it also felt like my whole body was vibrating, which was very strange.

So, that's me in a nutshell, sorry for pouring out all my craziness in one go!

I'd appreciate anyone else on Citalopram sharing their stories and letting me know how long this horrible feeling will last, I don't know if I can stomach this ill feeling from the tablets.

Thanks :)
Luke

Welcome Luke to the forums :). I think "pouring out all of your craziness" is rather a good idea to just flush your system once ;D
