venting

been brought to defeat once again.
how long until this battle ends?
fighting is my past and my present evermore,
caught in the crossfire of peace and war.
this strife is a cage, & hope the key.
but only sanity can set me free.

society is blind to the soldiers who fall,
their courage to them, means nothing at all.
victory is worthless unless it's known.
because even if I win, I'm still standing alone.
the audience is ignorant to what they see,
to them I'm well as long as i breathe.
unaware of the suffocating within my heart,
they turn their heads as my world turns dark.

so I'm left with the decision to surrender to pain,
or to continue advancing through the flames.
