I was just wondering how you guys manage your anxiety when you're out in public? I have my own techniques to calm myself (well try to) that I've either leant myself or from my psychologist. I TRY to do my deep breathing, which can be hard when you're having an extreme attack, I have water with me and have to know where the bathrooms are. I find telling someone how I feel helps.
So yeah, I was just curious what some of your techniques are.

When I feel anxious I usually avoid drinking caffeine and eat a small meal before I go anywhere, sunglasses help me feel less self conscious when walking outside, and sometimes doing some stretching sometimes helps loosen up your muscles.

These are some basics but when I feel anxious I usually avoid drinking caffeine and eat a small meal before I go anywhere, sunglasses help me feel less self conscious when walking outside- it may help you. Doing some stretching sometimes helps loosen up your muscles, especially around the shouders. I am a new member. And those are my anxiety tips for now. I hope you get relief.

I can't eat before I go out. It plays with my anxieties too much. But doing stretches sounds like a good idea! I've never thought about it before.

The stretches really help me especially one a book recommended that says to tense up ever muscle in your body for 10 seconds then release which is supposed to relax anxiety pretty quickly.

If you have a smart phone, or even just try youtube, theres an app called icalm, its a hypnosis app and what it does is really relax you, and it REALLY works, i use it at night to put myself to sleep. Check it out, one you have listened to it constantly for a few weeks, you can start using the techniques in public, its really great. Also try lavender, i bought a spray bottle of it from a chemist and i spray it around my room at night and on my pillow, you could even use it in the car etc..

Deep breathing is what I do usually. Also having water and something calming to drink, certain teas etc can be good. I usually avoid crowds when I feel an attack coming on.

Sometimes I try and identify 5 things I can hear, see and feel. If this doesn't work/still panicky I keep going!! I try and focus on objects/things instead of people. It's a bit hit and miss but sometimes takes the focus off the unpleasant feelings and sensations. Good luck : )
