I'm changing medication - have been on flouxetine for 3 months and I have noticed an improvement but also side effects such as lack of sleep, hot flushes, vivid weird dreams all the time, so I spoke to my dr and he said we should change and see if that helps with the side effects. so i'm going from 20mg flouxetine to 20mg citalopram...can anyone offer advice on the differences i may see and if you find one better than the other? I read some other posts and some people were saying they feklt sick and nausea the first few days and anxiety was worse :S
any info would be fab
thanks

Taking an anti-depressant can have a paradoxical effect to begin with. It's not uncommon to feel increased levels of anxiety to begin with, plus you might see other minor side effects. If you are particularly sensitive to medication, you might find escitalopram a more suitable medication. All this needs to be discussed with your DR, but I say escitalopram as it is known for its efficacy in anxiety disorders; it is basically an isomer of citalopram, so fairly similar, but supposedly with less unwanted effects. I hope this helps.
Also, changing between medications always carries the risk of minor flare-ups so don't panic! :)
