I see a huge decrease.. I took my bp at first because i have had a constant headache since 6pm.. So i freaked and been a bit anxious since earlier. So i checked it at a local drug store and every different time i checked it, i closed my eyes, deep breaths and relaxed. More and more until i felt at peace.... Why do u think my bp decreased?? Do u think its the anxiety that caused the rise?? Your opinion is important. Thanks :)

So as your heart rate went down so did the blood pressure. Sounds like anxiety to me. Same thing happens to me.

There is a well known thing called "white coat syndrome" where the very sight of a doctor in a white coat or even the thought of any medical causes someone's blood pressure to rise an it can rise in seconds.

I am very similar in that if I take my BP at home the first reading is almost always high. If I take again 30 seconds later it invariably has come down 10 points, 30 seconds later another 10 points where it usually then settles. My heart rate though remains relatively constant. The fact that yours changes actually proves that physically you are completely healthy as your BP will increase with a faster heart rate, that's just how it works. As the cause of the increases heart rate is very clearly anxiety you have absolutely nothing to fear. Everything is working precisely as it is supposed to.

I think it is absolutely caused by your anxiety. If you had true high bp.....it wouldn't decrease so much so quickly.
Same thing happens when I take mine.
