They're intended to slow the heart rate. That's not a bad thing, that's what they do.

It's a beta blocker. Helps stock the excess of adrenaline kicking in from the fight or flight response in ordr to curb the anxious feelings etc that stem from this fight or flight response going haywire.

I'm on 80mg and supposed to take two a day but only take one , they help reduce panic / anxiety symptoms by slowing yr heart rate ... I've been on them for years and never had any bad affects from them

Chest tightness and hy[erventilation are common with anxiety. Practice deep breathing techniques to overcome this.

Just wanted to say, I'm always trying to get a deep breath also. It's exhausting and irritating

Is there any danger in taking it?

It makes me feel better- lowers muscle tension, chest pains, and anxiety levels.
But I worry about my blood pressure running too low. I tend to have a high pulse and pretty normal blood pressure, so I don't know if something will happen to me if I take it since my blood pressure runs normal (most of the time). So that causes a tad of anxiety, but it typically makes it better than before nonetheless. I assume 10 mg shouldn't cause much damage, though. Health-wise, is it a risk? My blood pressure/pulse fluctuates wildly, though, so it can go from high to low pretty quickly. I just don't want anything to happen to me if, perhaps, my blood pressure is low that day and the medicine brings it down too much.

Thoughts?

If your dctr prescribed them then I'm sure they are fine .... But , if yr concerned u could just ask them to put yr mind at rest
