Hello all,
I have two versions a short and long version. Please post your answers, as it is a real serious problem.
SHORT VERSION
In the last eight days, during ejaculation I black out, get headaches, and have tremors or seizure like events. Even if the sex is stopped for a few seconds, the event reoccurs. These symptoms occur despite lying down, being hydrated, and trying to watch my breathing.
I think it may have something to do with my medications for GAD.
Over the last 6 years, I have taken Lexapro.
In the last 3 weeks, I have weened myself off my Lexapro 10 mg, taken twice daily. So that in the last week, when I noticed the event, I have stopped my Lexapro.
I still take Buspirone 10 mg twice daily for anxiety, which was given because lexapro was not getting it done.
Although some people stop taking this medication due to Syncopal Ejaculation (passing out during ejaculation) due to Hyponatremia, does anyone know if this happens when you stop taking it?
Also I was offered Effexor XR 75 mg, once a day, and wanted to know if I should even try it?
Any idea what is going on?
Long version on next post.

LONG VERSION
To whom it may concern:
During the time of July 4th to July 12th, I have experienced three episodes of blackouts and severe headaches all due to ejaculation. To clarify, there have been three ejaculations due to stimulation, with alll ejaculations resulting in black outs.
This blackout occurred first while standing in the shower. In the moment of ejaculation, my body seemed to collaspe with little or no warning. The fall resulted in a laceration in my right buttock. I have fallen due to ejaculation once or twice in ten years; although it is extremely rare, so I wrote this off as nothing. However, on July 10th while lying down during oral sex, I experienced a sudden headache before ejaculation, which was followed by a seizure episode, and pain. Continuation of oral sex, after 3 seconds, created another seizure and black out response. Again, although most would write this off as just good sex, this feeling was very different than normal ejaculations, and resulted in pain. Finally, on July 12th, while masterbating and sitting, I tried to control my breathing, was fully hydrated, and prepared for such a possilbe event. Once again, during ejaculation I had to stop due to the feeling of another blackout. Continuance of masterbation only resulted in tremors in head and torso and temporary loss of vision.
Although this seems like a minor or even humerous event, any sexual activity is now met with a sense of warning, pain, and annoyance. Three for three is a concern.
Currently I am taking Buspirone 10 mg, twice a day (morning and night). All blackouts occurred after at least 5 to 10 hours after taking medication.
On June 26th, I started to reduce my need for my other medication Lexapro 10 mg, twice a day (morning and night). I began by missing my night dose for 3 days, and then I stopped taking the medication completely by the 30th. This has left normal side-effects such as irratibility, increased anxiety, nervousness, and some dizziness. On a plus side, my energy level has doubled and depression has dropped by twenty or more precent.
I do not know the cause of this problem, but do believe it is medical and not psycological. That is, I do not believe that I am over-reacting or in panic. Rather, I did find conflicting information via the web.
During some rare cases of patients taking Lexapro- I think less than three percent- patients had to stop taking Lexapro due to Hyponatremia and Syncopal ejaculation. I do not understand either diagnosis, but believe it could be related. In regards to Buspirone, although I am more consistent with this medication, and have not missed a dose, which has not always been the case, I did not find any of the above mentioned side effects.
1. What is causing these black-outs?
2. What tests can I get to rule out other problems? (Scans and imaging)
3. Should I go back on the Lexapro?
I may be starting a new job soon, and I have been advised that I could take one Effexor XR 75 mg tablet, but find this unlikely due to my current situation.
Who asked you to cut down on your Meds? Yes I would say go back to your doctor and Explain to them what you have on here and they can send you for tests etc to put your mind at rest :)

I talked to my doc about stopping the medications, and he said fine. He is a big pill pusher, and I cannot take Effexor and Lexapro at the same time. Either way, I hated the lexapro because it did nothing about my fatigue, which may or may not be caused by the medications.
I will see my primary on Monday. Seeing my psychiatrist is often a 6 week event, if I am lucky.
Any information on Effexor? I probably will have to go back on something when I return to work as a teacher.
