Hello everyone
I was prescribed medication for panic attacks many years ago, it started having an adverse effect on me 2 years ago. I tapered off the meds and have been doing ok until last few weeks. I am in a constant state of anxiousness, I have shoulder and back pain. I feel like I am on a boat all the time, weird sensations. Sometimes feel I am wired up to an electricity socket.

Hi Em, I was prescribed Diazepam and then Mirtazapine, was on the diazepam for many years, Mirtazepine for 4 years. I had to taper off both meds. I had built up a tolerance to the Diazepam and the Mirtz gave me restless legs so I am now med free but having a rotten time

Thanks Em, I am so scared of meds, I had a real bad time in withdrawal and swore I would never take another pill. I am trying hard not to take anything.

Thanks Em I will have a look at the sertraline, bless you for helping me, I feel I am so alone, everyone is fed up with me at home now. I wish they could feel what I am feeling and not keep telling me I am doing it to myself.

The body shocks sounds like you might be still having withdrawals! How long have you been tapering off! Maybe it was to fast!
Sometimes, when we go off a medicine, we trigger a different reaction process, so it becomes a game to choose the path that works best for the moment.
With sertaline, make absolutely certain you drink liquid when taking this, and if it causes strange symptoms, switch to night-time. When it works, it gives the body and brain a chance to reset their switches in balance.
When you are in a state of acute anxiety, your resting anxiety levels usually go up, so learning to relax at all points of the action will help reduce the pain of the ache from the tension.
Best wishes.

I tapered over a year, using Prof Ashtons manual, I reduced Diazepam 20 mgs by 10% every 2 weeks and the same for Mirtazapine 15 mgs so It was a relatively slow taper. Its over a year ago now

[QUOTE=if you are against medsQUOTE]
I am not against meds, I became tolerant to diazepam after years taking this drug. The problem with benzodiazepines is that at some point they become ineffective at the present dose. It then takes more and more to achieve the original effect. My body become dependent physically due to the changes that these medications made to my central nervous system. It was a choice to withdraw completely, or keep getting more and more to cope with the adverse effects. I chose to taper slowly off
