Hello My name is Jenn, I am 30 and have been dealing with anxiety attacks for 10 years plus. I take 50mg of Zoloft and speak to a therapist. I had a bout of anxiety that kept me from a lot in May and it continued the whole month. Could not eat, lost weight and constantly nervous stomach. Just when i thought I was getting better BAM! I was hit this Monday with anxiety when I was shopping with a friend. I know I am a person who doesn't like change. I took a day off work for some me time Monday and my routine was messed up. I don't know if that is what triggered it. I am married to my best friend who tries to understand but I know he has to be sick of it. I feel I am ruining his summer with my issues. My mother has anxiety and agoraphobia and I am so scared to get that bad. I am scared to take pills because I am scared of getting addicted. What can I do to get my life back? Just need someone who is going through to help me and speak to me.

Dear jen,
U hv to consult with doc for meds, yes they r addictive discuss d issue with ur doc so that he can arrange properly also meds do not solve the anxiety but yes it gives some relief and meds also take time to adjust with ur system, also consult a therapist so that u can regain ur confidence and he/she might get some relaxation or breathing exercise for u, take care of ur diet, remember ur nt sick its ur brain..
Dont keep worrying i know it sounds strange but more u worry more u gt into anxiety..

I do talk to my therapist who doesn't seem to think I need any meds. I love some breathing exercises and they help tremendously but then it comes back. Not so much anxiety attacks but the nervousness. Ugh it get so frustrating. How do you deal with your attacks?

Work with the therapist and doc. If the meds ease anxiety that can't be reduced any other way... don't fear them. If the therapist can't find and help address any cause for anxiety you'll need to stay on the meds with a dose adjustment or trial of a different med. Meds are not meant to "fix" anything but can help with symptoms if they can't be controlled any other way.
Also education on anxiety helps allot. Alankay

Jen,
When i get anxious most of d time when i am in office working or at home doing stuff, when i feel i am getting into anxiety i leave d ongoing work and get myself into confortable position close my eyes and shout myself in my mind STOP, make myself understand that its brain causing this, i use tense and release breathing exercise.. starting tensing my muscles from my toes, calf, thighs, buttocks, stomach, chest, forearms, arms, fingers, chin, teeth, forehead, eyes and then scalp..
Tense the muscle as tight as u can take a deep breath hold it for the count of 5 then release with count of 8 simultaneously with tensed muscle..
This helps me..
