Well, im about to take my first Celexa tonight. Im starting at 10mg. I took it 12+ years ago for about maybe a month at most. Im scared as hell to take it. Ive read so many horror stories that it has me freaked a bit. Im honestly worried its gonna make me worse..or that maybe it wont work because I took it so long ago. I cant keep going on like this though. My mind is in constant worry..I also have a lot of uncomfortable physical symptoms of anxiety. I got the all clear from the doctor, but still cant stop worrying. Anyway, has anyone who's taken Celexa/Citalopram had good experiences?
My friend has been on this for a year she was really bad be4 she started on this but she's now like a new person and enjoying life to the max :) stop reading things it only makes things worse x

I advice that you be careful. In other words, let folks around you know the circumstances and that you are on the medication (those you truly trust). They need to be able to give constructive feedback about any personality changes, physical symptoms, etc. Then make sure to be in therapy at the time you are taking the medications to also reduce the changes of any severe personality change that get out of hand. Also, make sure not to start any other medications at the time you begin taking Celexa (so no funky stuff like Xanax in the mix).
I'm sure you will be okay and that the medication will relieve your anxiety symptoms in varied ways (it depends on the individual). But know that Celexa is not the end of, but instead a step toward, the elimination of your anxiety and symptoms. Active engagement in your condition is necessary to reduce your physical responses to stimuli and respond in a constructive way mentally.
I wish you the best of luck!

I do the same as you, I read all the pamphlets, google everything I can bad or good abt the medicine, and worry myself abt it. Give it a chance & see how u feel, I just started a new med today myself :)

Hello! Currently I am on Celexa 30mg once a day, I just went up from 20. Before I took Celexa I was taking Prozac 40mg a day. Celexa does help me with coping with my anxiety but not as well as Prozac does. On a good note, it does not make me as dead emotionally like Prozac does . If I had to choose one it all depends on the what I had to deal with that day I guess. I mean I love being able to live pretty much anxiety free but at the cost of now being in a happiness state where nothing will no matter how sad or amazing will really phase me emotionally. Pretty much makes life not so much fun. Anyways, remember that drugs affect everyone differently so just give it a try and see if it works for you. It may work like magic for me but it might just be the worst medication you have ever taken in your entire life. Good luck friend and keep your chin up.
