I recently had an x-ray done of my lumbar spine. My lower back pain has been off and on. It had gotten better for a few weeks and is now back again. The pain feels like its in the bone but I always feel some pain on the two dimples in the lower back and also love handle pain from time to time. I have been researching spinal tumors and it says back pain gets worse t night, my pain I feel like gets worse at night or at least makes it hard for me to get comfortable and stay asleep. My back isn't too bad when standing but can at times feel weak but when I bend over it usually has a sharp pain and in certain positions it also has sharp pains. So what I'm asking is, is the lumbar xray that came back negative a good tool for ruling out that tumor I believe I have?
Keep a journal with a stick drawing of the pain, where it is, how it travels, when this happens, and also keep track of your positions - because you may discover a pattern to help you relieve some of the triggers.
Best wishes.
I m suffering from severe back pain
When it started I thought my lung collapsed again so I had a CT and it was not that I had couple of blood test for inflammation rheumatoid etc and it was all fine I had a lumbar spine X-ray to check the discs in my spine and it was negative which is brilliant news
I saw a spinal surgeon last Monday and he was the first specialist to give me an answer to my back pain
He strongly recommends that it s a mechanical problem that I developed after a surgery I had on my lung my posture( I used to bend to one side because I had to carry 2 chest drains and walk around ) and the fact that I was most of the time in bed for 2 months so all these factors added up to the back pain
He still wants to do an MRI scan just to rule anything else out
So if you still worried get that done it will certainly give a clear idea of whats wrong
To relieve the pain he advised to do some exercise such as swimming yoga Pilates etc
Try that it might help!

The xray is a start but you have not ruled out the idea of a tumour from your head, so you need to go back to your doctor and ask for some more tests so that you can finally rule it completely out of your head. Once all the tests prove that you do not have one, you will have to try to start believing it and take back control of your life and move forward.
If the tests are negative then you will have to believe it is anxiety causing the pains and then deal with it the best way that you can or how it has worked for you in the past. Concentration on something like a jigsaw puzzle or crossword etc, or meditation even a few minutes a day, can help you get your anxiety levels down and stop the worry for a few minutes a day will start to help you.
