I am slowly tapering off klonopin. I am worried about possible withdrawal or side effects. Does anyone have any stories, suggestion, or advice?

I take it to, a very low dose. I only take when I have to. If I am home I just try to work through an attack but if I am out driving or at work I use it. I start with half a dose. I wanted to quit using it but I doubt I ever will.

I was taking .5mg x3 daily for around two months. My taper plan was:
Two .5m daily for a week or two
One and a half .5m daily for a week or two
One daily for a week or two
Half a pill daily for a week or two
A quarter of a pill for a week or two

I experienced pretty much NO withdrawl symptoms and I managed to stay off of them for about two weeks, until I had a panic attack and took one. Unfortunately my mind is a complete wreck right now after various things caused a ton of anxiety and I'm using them until I can get back to functioning and hopefully learn another kind of coping technique. I feel no real need to ever go off Klonopin completely, if it saves my ass from a panic attack then why not use it?

Best of luck

Never been on this tablet but wish you well, know how difficult it is coming off some of the tablets we take.

Just do it very very slowly and remember these have a long shelf life and stay in your system for a period of time. By weaning at a slow pace you limit your chances of having a rebound effect ( producing anxiety ) I went off an antidepressant at a very slow pace as well. Try supplementing with Vitamin B's and omega 3 Fish Oil 2,000 mg a day ( Brain Vitamins and very good for anxiety and depression ( keep in the frig and take them before you go to bed ( B6 is the calming vitamin but all B's are good ) Often a Vitamin B12 deficiency is at the root of anxiety/depression. Good Luck
