Hi, new here. I'm Sarah, a.k.a Aya, from South Wales. Found this forum through Google. Recently had one hell of a panic attack that put me in hospital (I thought I was having a heart attack...) so thought I'd join a group of people with the same problems! I've had severe depression since I was 11 when I was suicidal (I'm 23 now), having minor panic attacks and the sort occasionally but since the stress has built up recently due to damaged knees and other issues I am now more prone to major ones. Hope to get to know some of you guys and share my bits of knowledge it. See you around!
Aya :)

Hi, new here. I'm Sarah, a.k.a Aya, from South Wales. Found this forum through Google.
This is a lie, isn't it? You were googling 'Sexy men', weren't you? And my name came up, and you followed me here.
No, but seriously. Hey Aya :) Im Jesse. I know you Welsh girls have a great sense of humour so I like to have banter with you all wherever possible.
My story is actually pretty similar to yours. Same age, a long history with depression. My first panic attack involved me being watched by family members cos it seemed I was dying. Wow. I'll never forget that. You never forget your first one, do you? :P
Mine were brought on by a health issue too. That stress seems to build up so much, and you never really pay much attention to it as you're busy concerning yourself with another health issue. Sweet irony. Are you having any treatment for your anxiety? Are your knees an issue that will resolve with treatment, or are they a lifelong problem?
Anyway, it's nice to meet you, I'll look out for any of your posts on here. People are super friendly :)

Thanks for the welcome :) My first panic attack was only on Monday night... I mean, I've had really mini ones for a while but this was a full blown hospitalisation one. Still struggling with keeping my heart and breathing steady, getting light headed and thinking another one is on the way. Unnerving to say the least!! I'm on citalopram at the moment, but going back to the doctors when I'm able to walk properly down the stairs with the letter from the hospital so they might put me on something different.
The knee thing is sadly a long term thing. No idea what's wrong with them, waiting for an MRI so I can find out (hopefully). It certainly doesn't help with the anxiety!!!
Aya.
Welcome to the site. Sorry you had it from such a young age. Mine is related to hormones so had it on and off over last 28 years and this time it is going on much longer and body rejecting HRT and anti depressants for over 2 years. I had a bad knee from a fall 6 years ago and suddenly last year I put weight back on and stopped exercising so knee went again. Because had physio for months instead of going straight to knee specialist, damaged other knee too. So after being off work for 5 months with head and 7 weeks in hospital because suicidal and tablets not working, I managed to get back to work full time. But then had one knee arthoscopy in Dec and second knee arthocopy in march, but march one much worse because on knee damaged before. After first knee op took leave not sick and went back to work after 10 days, but should not have done, because got new boss and instead of being thanked for working long hours now told went back too early and showed signs of mental illness so if boss had not been internal but new outside boss she would have got rid if me! So went back again this week after 10 weeks sick and determined not to work long hours because no thanks and think got mental problems - would never happen if people didn't know you had bad head. So work not my whole life and focus now - going to think of husband and son and now new meditation groups joined and new peer support group starting up and get work into better perspective!

Good Day to everyone! I'm also new to this site. I already like what I see. I'm hoping with the help of you all, I can better my quality of life - less painful with the help of talk...
Just put on another thread I have found talking to others who understand helps so much that next week I am starting an evening peer support group with the help of the mental health forum. Excited about doing it and hoping we can all help each other as part of a group.
