View Full Version : How can I tell if my SSRI is working if I'm on Seroquel?

Basically I had a complete mental breakdown a few weeks ago as my anxiety/depression became worse than it ever has in my life.

I was being treated by a GP for the past few years but I felt he couldn't help anymore and I finally went to a psychiatrist

She put me on Seroquel XR because I was so unable to stop thinking and was afraid I was putting myself into a psychosis (thinking disillusionally and beginning to have suicidal thoughts for the first time ever)

It's been 2 weeks now since then and I'm surprised at how well the Seroquel worked, it slowly lifted the anxiety to a noticeable degree after just one week.

Now, she is switching my SSRI to something now.

My question is, since Seroquel has helped the anxiety, and since I am still on it, how will I tell if my new SSRI is affective? Has anyone else been temporarily treated with Seroquel while starting/upping/switching SSRI??

any response will be much appreciated and helpful, thank you.

Hi there. I was prescribed seroquel about a month back to help with sleeping. I am also on 20mg cipralex, 150mg of Wellbutrin and I have Ativans. The seroquel was added after being on cipralex for a year. Then about two weeks ago the Wellbutrin was added. So far I can't sleep. I feel more tension in my muscles from anxiety, but my emotions feel pretty well under control. I'm a bit more irritable too.

Also seroquel is for bipolar and schizophrenia so you may notice the sSRI working if you mood is lifted and feel less "out of control"

#1 rule I learned in Highschool science class: You can never conduct an experiment with 2 variables. :P
