Hello I am glad i found this site. I need some advice. I have been suffering with anxiety since I was 12 years old. I have have unrealistic fears and I dont know where they come from. I know I have these fears but when they come on i cannot shake them. See I was sexually abused by a neighbor when i was 14 years old. And my older brother and sister verbally and emotionally abused me so bad that I became withdrawn and I put up a shell around myself and never let anybody in. But what i really want to know where these unrealistic fears and assumptions come from?

I am so sorry that you had to go through that. That is horrible.

So many people seek the reasons why they're disorder started. Clearly you don't have far to look.

Unrealistic thoughts, or irrational fears are normal for anxiety sufferers.

You have a negative thought shoot into your head, and then boom, you fear the thought and the adrenaline flows causing a panic attack.

Since you know the unrealistic thoughts are part of your anxiety, try to disregard them and move on.

I know it's hard to do but as soon as you stop acting to them, the fears stop coming.

It's ok to have those thoughts. We all do.

The difference between feeling good and feeling bad is how you react to your thoughts.

Believe they are reality, you will be anxious. Believe hey are bullshit, which they are, it stops

Glad you found your way here

Prayers and great things in store for you attached to this response

So sorry you have had such a horrible time which has caused your problems now.
Have you been to see your doctor and asked what professional help you can get access to?
I have a mental health nurse who helps me as a daily support if I need it when I am suicidal or just anxious, or having trouble at work. I also see a psychiatrist for anti depressants and tablets for anxiety.
I have also been referred to courses run by the NHS and the Recovery Education Service which are really good - the subjects covered help you to learn to cope with your symptoms and you get to meet people who understand how you are feeling.
Our Mental Health Forum also runs peer support groups where you can drop in and talk to fellow sufferers, and everyone suffers from different things, and has different reasons for them.
I have also seen a psychologist who looks into your past and finds out what is hurting you now and causing you problems - this would really help you. All they do is talk to you and help you to come to terms with what happened and help you to find ways to overcome your problems now.
So I would recommend talking to your doctor and ask to be referred.
