I know a few people on it for anxiety and said it has helped greatly. Just takes a while to really get in the system like the others.

My sister was taking Abilify for a while before switching to Lexapro. She was having some pretty bad side effects with the Abilify. She seems to be doing ok now..

I went to my psychiatrist yesterday and she switch me from Zoloft to Lexapro because I been taking the Zoloft 75 mg for 7 mos and still feeling depress and anxious a lot.

I am afraid to take the Lexapro because she instructed me to take both while I am weaning the Zoloft but I read that it is fatal to take both SSRI. Does anybody in here have taken both .zoloft and lexapro before?

never mix meds, call your doctor & double check with him. if he still says yes then ask him about what you read.

I've been on Lexapro 15 mg since nov. I feel like I can do things again and not worry like I did. Look over my old posts about it.

You ask how Lexapro works.. it is an SSRI, what they do is, they block the re-uptake of serotonin. basically, from my understanding this means, it give your brain some more time to marinate in the serotonin before re-uptake.. I think it's good to know how your meds while taking them, getting a better understanding of what they are, and how they work will help you worry less, I advise you to go ahead and look up "how ssri's work" study up on it, it can be beneficial.

Lexapro has indeed helped me in the past, I believe it is a great medication. I regret getting overly confident and going off of it (as sometimes going off of a med and back on can lower it's efficiency)..which is what happened to me, which is why I have to try something else now :(

Give it a chance, the worst that happens is it doesn't work. But I bet you'll notice improvement :) (also keep in mind it can take a while, around a month or so to experience full benefits)

It took me about 2-2.5 weeks to start feeling better on Lexapro, but after a few months it actually reversed the effect on me. I stopped taking it and now I am taking buPROPion and it works ok. Just a personal experience :)

Very true about not feeling like a zombie. That is one side effect I do not like about any medication :/

It's a great medicene, I've taken it for years and it's treated most of my anxiety. However eventually it makes you lose interest in sex, makes it hard to get a stiffy, and eventually makes it really difficult to ejaculate. I've gone off of it several times for this and it starts to disipate after 4 days or so.

I've been on it a long time but I hope to leave it soon.

I have tried depression with and without tables and definitely found it easier with tablets. But they do have to find right one for you and you have to be able to handle any side effects. Each time had depression body has changed so needed different tablets to help.
