Hi, I'm new here and not used to forums so appologiesif I am doing something wrong. >_<
So, about 3 years ago, when I was in high school, I started taking 50mg of Zoloft.
During that time I have gone on and off, but just started again after about a year of not taking any anxiety/depression medicine at all.
While I was off of it I had no anxiety at all, but incredibly awful mood swings and periods of intense depression.
I've been on Zoloft for a week and 1 day and it seems like my anxiety has sky rocketed. I feel as if I am losing touch with reality and myself. I find myself having anxiety and panicking constantly, over everything. It's ridiculous and has been like this for days. I've had strange thoughts and paranoia too.
I've heard that sometimes your anxiety gets worse before it gets better, but I am beginning to wonder if I should continue to take this because it is making life really hard. I have headaches too and feel tired constantly.
I guess what I am just wanting to know is if other people were affected like this and if it finally began to work after a few weeks.
I REALLY want zoloft to work and I am hoping that it will just be worse before it gets better??

The same thing happened to me I started Zoloft 5 yrs ago it worked great then went off it a few years ago then tried to go back on it about a month ago I got really sleepy, numbness in my face really bad headaches, nausea, anxiety was horrible. I told my doc and he just took me off of it. I'm not on anything right now

I'm taking Zoloft right now and experiencing the same exact thing. It's been about a month and I still feel the same way. I have an appointment this week and I'm definitely going to talk to my doctor about it.

Just started on Paxil. Was told by my shrink that I wouldn't benefit from it until at least 3 weeks. It's not a quick fix. You should take a benzo like Ativan or Xanax until the Zoloft starts helping you. They are lifesavers for me.

Yep, they take time to work. 3-6 weeks. Alankay

I talked to a friend that is also on Zoloft and if you are taking the generic form and are taking 100 mg the tablets have a range of say 75-90 mg of the med. because of all the different distributors you may find that your pills look different from each fill. You may have to visit with your pharmacist. Generally they take 3 weeks to start seeing effects.
