View Full Version : Why medication will never solve your problem

I used to be a total social outcast.

Only a few short years ago, I spent so much time inside that in a year I accumulated over 2000 hours playing the popular MMORPG Guild Wars (over 6 hours on average a day!). I used to have no friends, I was THE definition of a skinny loser nerd but now that's changed.

I don't look the same, I don't feel the same as well and now my life is 1000x better. I've got a great group of close friends that I've known for many years, I've had many girlfriends and my social confidence is now so high that I often just walk up to meet people on the streets!

I'm not saying telling you all of this to brag, I'm telling you because I have found the solution to your problem.

The thing is, society doesn't really care about you. It's a harsh truth, but lend me your ear for the moment. It's far too expensive to pay for the treatment that will give you the deep, core internal change you need over simply giving you some prescription meds and hoping for the best. And I'm sure you all already know in your heart of hearts that prescription medication is not a long-term solution - it's like a bandaid over a bullet wound, there is no core internal change but instead surface-level removal of symptoms. Plus there's the side effects of loss of libido, liver damage, etc.

My method for real internal change comes from my background as an experienced ABA therapist, a bottom-up approach where changing behaviour is emphasised and leads to belief change. Compared to cognitive therapy belief modification, behaviour is extremely easy to change - just look at how the huge world of marketing can trick you into buying but then regret your purchase later. Having an empowering experience is far more useful than reciting affirmations all day and the quickest way to change beliefs is through testing them.

The journey I've gone through in my personal and professional life has taught me so much and I want to help people on their journey into the social world.

This message is for those out there who have tried to solve the problem by themselves to no avail and want to get over whatever is holding them back in a judgement-free zone.

If anyone feels that they've been let down by the alternative forms of treatment and wants to finally fix their social anxiety, add me on Skype (AaronSollesse) and we can talk about simple, practical steps to improve your condition.

With you in wellness,
Aaron

What on Earth are you talking about? Medication solved 80% of my anxiety. Just because it didn't work for you doesn't mean it's "never going to solve your problem" for everyone. You can't take the first medicene you're given and when it doesn't work say "Oh medicine is crap it didn't work" It took my 5 years of trial and error to get my medicene right and I'm pretty satisfied with the results.

Often it's not meant to be a "fix". Often it relieves distress while you get help in other ways that take more time(for the longer term). Some don't need any meds, others just for a while. Others will need meds to feel their best in some way long term(chronic anxiety disorders) and that's best left up to you and a good doctor. None else. I'm still amazed there's a one sized fits all mentality out there....at all. Kind of like, "I fixed my marriage so you should be able to too...". Alankay
